San Diego's LaDainian Tomlinson is an offence unto himself.
Tomlinson set an NFL record last week when he scored his 29th touchdown, breaking the mark of 28 set last season by Seattle's Shaun Alexander. What makes it even more impressive: Tomlinson himself has more touchdowns than more than half the teams in the NFL - 17 in all.
He has almost double the number of TDs as Tampa Bay and Oakland, tied for last with 16 touchdowns. The others L.T. leads: Cleveland, Houston, Carolina, San Francisco, Miami, Washington, Denver, Detroit, Minnesota, Buffalo, Atlanta, Tennessee, Arizona, Green Bay and St. Louis.
Take it a step beyond and you discover that going into this week three other teams - the New York Jets, Baltimore and Seattle - have fewer offensive TDs, bringing the total to 20 that Tomlinson has outscored on offence. He's tied with one more: Kansas City, which has 29 offensive TDs and one on a punt return by Dante Hall against San Francisco.
And one more stat: Tomlinson also has thrown two touchdown passes.
