College Students for Ron Paul: It's Not Just Online Gambling Desperate for CandidateOf the 2008 Presidential candidates, only one has gone on record as saying that he fully supports abolishing a piece of online gambling prohibition that got passed last October (complete with exemption for horse racing). Ron Paul, the Republican representative from Texas, has told Gambling911.com that he voted against the measure (sneaked onto an unrelated Port Security bill) and he has co-sponsored another bill with Democrat Barney Frank to repeal the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.
“The majority of people in Washington were afraid to support the internet for fear it would label them ‘pro-porn’ or ‘pro-gambling’," Dr. Paul told Gambling911.com two weeks ago.
Paul confided in our own Kira Wissman that he does not see proposed legislation against the UIGEA having much of a chance in Congress right now due to the current environment and apprehensions with the Internet.
As President, Paul would not regulate the Internet.
Gambling911.com Special Contributor, Jennifer Reynolds, offered up one other reason why college students in particular should start supporting Ron Paul for President.
"He's the only hope for not having a draft," she tells us.

This is a very important time for us all. Our country is in a state of flux. It has seen more changes in the past few years than in the past few decades: at risk are our civil liberties. For this reason, the upcoming Presidential election is the most important one in history. If we decide to "stay the course" the government will continue to take us down the path of unnecessary military actions, the draft will likely be reinstated, (they are discussing plans about it now), and we face massive overspending leading to monetary inflation and unthinkable financial burdens on your generation that may destroy all hope of prosperity.
You have a solution, but only one and it is hard to find. In the Republican party is a man running for President named Ron Paul. Ron Paul has been in Congress for ten terms. His voting record has remained remarkably consistent that whole time. He voted against the Iraq war from day one, voted against the Patriot Act, and has voted against any bill that will tax or regulate the Internet. Nonetheless, you may not have heard of him if you have been watching the mainstream news. He has been deliberately ignored by the press, and he gets flooded with ad hominem attacks calling him a kook because he wants to return to a powerful Constitution and end abuses of government power.
Ron Paul offers a perspective that crosses party lines and seeks to return our political system to one that works, but one that takes power out of the hands of the politicians and the lobbyists who purchase favors. He is a strict Constitutionalist and believes in the principles that founded this country: liberty and freedom from government interference. He has already spoken about the dangers of conscription (the draft). Think that doesn't affect you? Think again. The President and his people recently announced that they are putting the idea of the draft back on the table. That means you. Your life. Dare you not get involved? Ron Paul wants to end this war, today, and bring all of the troops home, so we won't need a draft. If anyone else gets into office who wants to keep the war going, they will take you to fight it for them. So be very very careful who you vote for, or you will be holding a gun! You must vote in this election to save your lives.
Ron Paul does not believe that you should be burdened with the costs of the previous generations. He wants to lower government spending. He wants to end the Federal Reserve and get us off a fiat money system. He wants to end programs that curtail your liberties more than they protect you (e.g. The Patriot Act). He wants to get Big Brother off your back! He doesn't care who you marry. He doesn't think the government should tell doctors what to prescribe. He doesn't want government watching your every move. You can be assured he will do what he says because in the ten terms he has been in government he has been virtually the only one voting to protect your rights. He is hated in Washington because he will not play their game of sacrificing the individual to special interest groups.
With Ron Paul as President restoring the Constitution, you would take home your entire paycheck (he wants to end Income taxes), have the option of getting out of Social Security if you choose, you would never be drafted, your Internet would be unwatched, unregulated and untaxed, your homes could not be searched without proper warrants, habeas corpus would be reinstated, (yes, re-instated), corporate welfare would end (which is why the corporate media giants won't let you hear about him), your savings would be safe from monetary inflation, and the Constitution would be upheld. Without him, well... re-read 1984 by George Orwell.
You only have once chance to vote for your first Presidential candidate. Make it a vote you are proud to have cast! Never let anyone trick you with that nonsense "you shouldn't vote for him, he doesn't have a chance." The only prize you should be seeking is to change the country the way you believe it should be changed. Another ridiculous saying is "don't waste your vote, you have to vote for the lesser of two evils." When you do that, you are voting for evil. You are sending the message that you support that evil person and all of his/her policies. The “powers-that-be” will think they are continuing the war and the spending with the support of “the people”. Vote for what you want, not for what you don't want. At least then your vote won’t be misunderstood as fully supporting some “lesser of two evils” big-government clown.
Can you really change the world? Can you really stop the violence? You must. You are the only hope this country has. The other candidates (on both sides) want to use pre-emptive nuclear strikes against other countries. Think about the horrors, the innocent deaths, the burning civilians. The Democrats who promised to end the war, instead funded it so it can last longer and they just handed the President the power to conduct warrantless wire taps. You have only one protection from the madness: Ron Paul. LewRockwell.com has a whole Ron Paul file - read it. Get as many students on board as you can. Call 1800-Ron Paul for a free bumper sticker for your car or backpack. Go to Meetup.com and start a Ron Paul group of your own on campus. There are a LOT of students in this country. You have the power to make a change! Please use it! We need you. The rest of the country is SLEEPING! Show the public that students care about liberty, freedom and saving innocent lives! Your voices can and will be heard. The Internet has made all this possible. Now use your technology to change their world!
Make sure you register as a Republican so you can vote for Ron Paul in the primary and don't forget to vote in the primary!. Many states (although not all) have this requirement. Check here for voter requirements in your state. You can even vote in the primary by mail if you request it early enough. If Ron Paul does not win in the Republican primary he will not be on the ballot in November of 2008 and there is a good chance you will be drafted, or your friends will. Seriously. This is do or die time!
"Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost." John Quincy Adams
