Ricky
Hatton KO's Castillo
In what was one of the
most anticipated fights in some time, Manchester,
England's Ricky Hatton has KO'd Jose Luis Castillo
in the 4th round.
Ricky "The Hitman"
Hatton stopped Jose Luis Castillo at 2:16 of the
fourth round with a body shot translating into a
knockout. With that, Hatton retains his IBO
Light Welterwight belt.
Hatton was listed as a -240 favorite verses the
Mexican, Jose Luis Castillo.
Hatton undefeated
with a career record of 43 wins (31 by KO), 0 losses
and 0 draws.
The Ricky
Hatton/Jose Luis Castillo fight was one of a handful
of fight betting events anticipated by Sports911.com
readers this weekend, capped off by
Frank
Shamrock's Strike Force/Elite XC win
and concluding with the much ballyhooed
Kimbo Slice/Ray Mercer Cage
Fury Fighting Championships 5.
"I think tonight
was a bit more of my best," Hatton said. "I don't
think there was the excitement in my last two fights
as there was tonight."
Hatton was outworking Castillo and landing more
punches, but there was no indication he had ever
hurt his Mexican opponent until he suddenly threw a
left hook that seemed to take the wind out of
Castillo.
Castillo went to a knee and looked at Cortez as he
was counted out.
"He got me with a perfect shot," Castillo said. "I
couldn't get up."
