PITCHING MATCHUP: Red Sox LH David Price (4-2, 3.52 ERA) vs. Twins RH Michael Pineda (4-3, 5.04)

Price was fortunate to escape with a no-decision in his last outing as he gave up six runs and five hits in just 1 1/3 innings against Texas. The 33-year-old pitched well in his previous three starts, going 2-0 while allowing three runs and 14 hits in 18 1/3 frames. Price is 10-4 with a 2.62 ERA in 18 career appearances (17 starts) versus the Twins and has struggled against Eddie Rosario (5-for-9) while shutting down Miguel Sano (1-for-11).

Pineda is 2-0 over his last six starts, settling for no-decisions in each of his last three turns. The 30-year-old allowed one run and five hits over 5 2/3 innings against Seattle in his last outing, making it seven straight times in which he has given up three runs or fewer. Pineda is 5-5 with a 4.23 ERA in 12 career starts against Boston and has had difficulties with Mookie Betts (7-for-23, two homers).

Looking at this on the surface, one would expect both pitchers here to be especially hungry for a win considering they are coming off no-decisions (Pineda multiple no-decisions).

Boston has scored five or more runs in six of their last ten games.  They have held opponents to five or fewer runs in six of their last ten.

Minnesota has scored at least five runs in seven of their last ten while allowing five or more in half of the games played over that span.  Not surprisingly, the OVER is 8-2 in the Twins last ten.

NFC Championship Betting – Green Bay Packers at San Francisco 49ers

Any fan knows that the result of a regular season game is meaningless when it comes time to play the NFC Championship. But the San Francisco 49ers’ total annihilation of the Green Bay Packers in Week 12 is hard to overlook. Sure, the Pack hasn’t lost since that 37-8 setback, beating the Niners’ nemesis Seattle last week in the Divisional Round to advance to the conference title tilt in its first postseason appearance in three years. The Niners caged Aaron Rodgers and allowed very little in that November cover victory. Can Rodgers work some of his postseason magic against the heavily favored hosts on Sunday?
