Ratatouille was the closest thing we knew of to a "lock" in this year's Oscars. Betting odds on Ratatouille were available at BetUS.com up until the start of the Oscars. Ratatouille required a rather large risk for a nominal reward. A $10 bet paid out a whopping $1, but that $10 and the $1 win went to the gamblers as the rat flick won for "best animated feature". It was the first major Oscar award announced in 2008. Ratatouille is the Pixar animated feature that tells the story of Rémy (voiced by Patton Oswalt), a rat living in Paris who wants to be a chef, but is pressured to do otherwise by the disapproval of his family and the prejudice of humans. It was released on June 29, 2007 in the United States, to both critical acclaim and box office success. Persepolis and Surfs Up were the other two nominees with 4/1 odds between them. BetUS.com plans to offer betting odds on American Idol and will be offering an entire menu of March Madness betting odds over the next few weeks. --- Jordan Bach, Gambling911.com Originally published February 24, 2008 1:52 pm EST Find More News from Gambling911.com Here ----
