Preview

On Thursday, the Portland Timbers will try to extend their four-game undefeated streak as they host Orlando City.

Portland is ranked #10 in the Western Conference. They have accumulated 24 points in 18 matches, with 7 wins, 3 draws, and 8 loses.

The Timbers are working hard to catch up to FC Dallas who are five points ahead and are currently holding on to the last playoff spot. However, Dallas has played 3 more games than Portland, so their 5-point lead is undoubtedly in peril.

Orlando City, on the other hand, are in the #8 spot in the Eastern Conference after 20 games. So far, they have accumulated 25 points, and have a similar record than their opponents on Thursday with 7 wins, 4 draws, and 9 loses for the season thus far.

The Timbers may not have lost any of their last four games, but that doesnít mean they are on a winning streak. Portland squandered a pair of leads on Saturday against the Colorado Rapids, settling for a disappointing 2-2 draw.

Orlando who also played last Saturday is coming off a 1-0 win over Columbus Crew SA and are therefore pumped to win their second game in a row.

Series Matchup

These two teams donít often get a chance to face each other. They have only played against each other on four different occasions.

Orlando leads the series 3-1, none of their matches has ever ended in a draw. As for the total, out of the four games, only the first one did not go over 2,5 goals. The last three games all ended with more than two goals scored, and two matches featured goals at both ends.

What to Expect

Portland is on a roll, they have lost one game in their last eight outings, and as we mentioned earlier, they have not lost any of their previous four matchups.

However, they havenít been scoring much, Saturdayís game against Colorado was the only game out of the last four that produced more than 2.5 goals. The other three games ended with the Timbers winning 1-0.

Oregon scored in their last eight home games and managed to get past the oppositionís goalkeeper more than once in all but one of those outings.

In their last four outings, Orlando City has experienced all possible outcomes. They lost 1-3 at home against Philadelphia, they tied 2-2 with Philly while on the road, their next home game against NYC FC also ended in a 1-1 draw. It wasnít until their most recent game this past Saturday against Columbus that they managed to win 1-0 at home.

Prediction:

Portland is on an undefeated roll, and they are also playing catch up to try and get that coveted last post in the playoffs and being at home should give them enough of an advantage to win this bout.

One thing bookie agents should be looking out for, however, is balancing their over/under bets, as the over in this game is likely to be the outcome.
