Pittsburgh Steelers:
2006 Super Bowl odds
The Pittsburgh
Steelers were among the more favored teams to win
the 2006 Super Bowl with odds posted at +1200 early
on, and while the team has performed relatively well
over this season, Cincinnati forced them
to settle for a wild car position and now they head
to the 2006 Super Bowl
Both the Steelers
and Vikings were 8-5 going into Week 15, and both resided in second place
in their respective divisions. Both were attempting
to rebound from troubling stretches and both
would see their playoff hopes damaged greatly with a
loss on Sunday afternoon at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome.
Unfortunately for the Vikings, it was the Steelers
who came out on top in this one.
The Steelers had won
six of their past seven against NFC North opponents,
including a 21-9 victory against Chicago last Sunday.
But the Vikings have lost only once at home this
year - make that twice now.
Minnesota Vikings 2006 Super Bowl
odds were set early at +1400. They had
an abysmal start to the season but for the past
several weeks have been among the most successful
teams in the league.
Despite having to play
all their post season games on the road, the
Pittsburgh Steelers came through with flying colors.
Beating the darling Colts (and early favorite to win
the 2006 Super Bowl) on the road could be the
feather in their caps that help this team go all the
way and now they cap things off with a big win in
Denver. The
Pittsburgh Steelers gave the Colts every opportunity
to steal their playoff game prior to beating Denver.
In the final moments of one of the most thrilling
playoff games anyone can remember, Indy couldn't
figure out how to take it.

The Steelers represent
the last of the teams with best early
Odds to win the 2006 Super
Bowl The Denver Broncos and Seattle
Seahawks were listed with 30/1 and 25/1 odds to win
the Super Bowl, respectively. The Pittsburgh
Steelers had odds of 12 to 1 and were among the top
6 teams most likely to win the big game.
Pittsburgh's odds
were an even better value entering the Playoffs at
15 to 1. The
Steelers will now travel to what will likely be
their toughest challenge to date, Denver. The
Broncos enjoy one of the best home advantages in the
league. Whereas crowd and weather often play a
key role in helping the home team, Denver has an
added advantage with its mile high thin air.
