Online gambling: BetandWin executives detained in France

BetandWin co-chief executives Manfred Bodner and Norbert Teufelberger have been detained this afternoon for questioning by French police according to Gambling911.com sources.  French authorities have detained the two men for alleged violation of French gaming laws.

This is the latest in a series of high profile online gambling captures that include former BetonSports CEO David Carruthers and Sportingbet Non-Executive Chairman Peter Dicks.

The later two men were detained on US soil.  Carruthers will face trial on federal charges for money laundering and racketeering charges.

Peter Dicks, who was apprehended last week in New York and charged with various Internet gambling violations, must return to the U.S.A. on September 28th for a brief hearing on a motion to extradite him to the Gulf State of Louisiana.

A New York City criminal court judge decided that Peter Dicks, who resigned as chairman of the UK-based online gambling firm Sportingbet.com Plc earlier in the day Thursday, can depart the U.S.A. and return to the UK, before heading back for his September 28th hearing.

The arrest of Peter Dicks in New York City originally had many UK traders, industry analysts, and speculators fearing the worst, but as more and more details are released, it seems that Peter Dicks may not be in that much trouble.

Dicks ability to move freely back to the UK is another great sign for his possibilities, whereas David Carruthers was put on house arrest and not allowed to leave the US when he was arrested on much serious charges by the Feds last July.
