Odds to Win the 2008 US Masters

Odds to win the 2008 US Masters were available online at BetUS.com.  Tiger Woods come into this US Masters as the huge underdog.  Okay, that was a joke.  But actually, he's a good value at near even odds.  A $115 bet pays out $100 (plus you get your initial bet back if Tiger Woods were to win).

Of course, the best payout odds are applied to those golfers whose names are NOT Tiger Woods.  Phil Mickelson is the only one paying single digit odds and even he pays out nicely:  $800 for every $100 bet.

The 72nd staging of the first Major of the year gets under way at the Augusta National in Georgia, with leading players from around the world hoping to tame the notoriously difficult course and end the weekend with the Green Jacket.

Tiger Woods offers great value considering he has already won the US Masters title four times.

In terms of payout and potential to win, Phil Michelson would provide the ultimate economic stimulus package for gamblers during these tough times.

Phil Mickelson can stop Tiger. Mickelson has won two of the last four Masters.

Some other picks from Mark Reason of the Calcutta Telegraph:

Geoff Ogilvy can win. He had a couple of ‘train wrecks’ last year and was still in contention for much of the tournament. Mike Weir and Zach Johnson have shown that non-bombers with a great wedge-game can prevail at Augusta. Padraig Harrington left the course last year saying: “I walked away from this tournament knowing that I'm capable of winning the Masters.” Many of the young Brits, three of whom finished in the top 10 last year, will feel the same. Luke Donald says: “I've played well there and contended a couple of times and there’s no reason why come Sunday I can’t tee it up having a chance to win.”

Geoff Ogilvy stands to pay out $4000 for every $100 bet.  Zach Johnson, $5000.  (see: 2008 US Masters Betting Odds)

Now if you really want to make a mint, go with a relatively obscure golfer like Drew Weaver who stands to pay a whopping $75,000 for every $100 bet.  A $10 bet actually pays $750 on someone like Weaver.  Last year, Drew Weaver became the first American to win the British Amateur golf tournament since 1979.  So anything is possible.

Betting on the US Masters has become quite popular in recent years, mainly because it is among the easiest sports to bet on with some of the highest payout potentials.
