Odds
to Win the 2007 World Series
It's that time of year once again when we start pondering which MLB teams have the best odds to win the 2007 World Series. Please note that these were the early odds to win the 2007 World Series. See: Updated 2007 World Series Betting Odds
As usual, the New York Yankees open as the favorite to win with early odds set at +425. Betting any team early on with a minimum of $100 will yield at least $425 in profit. And that's if you choose to go with the Yankees.
"Considering how well the New York Mets played last year, we already have them opening at +725, which translates into a $725 payout on a $100 bet," says Sports911.com's Tyrone Black. "The only other team with single digit odds (under 10 to 1 odds) is the Boston Redsox which would pay out $670 on a $100 bet."
Betting on World Series futures has become a national pastime. While baseball itself is not considered a heavily bet on sport by bookmakers, wagering on the World Series gets plenty of action, even early on in the season.
"One of the reasons for this is that teams can improve dramatically from one season to the next," Black said. "It is not unusual for fans to place a nice size future bet on their home town team year after year at very favorable payout odds. When we start the season off, every fan believes it will be their team that is going to win the World Series."
And even though the Yankees are listed with odds of +425 (still a nice payout), all but two other teams have odds longer than +1000, which translates into a $1000 plus payout on every $100 bet.
"Detroit has odds of +1200. That's a $1200 payout on a $100 bet. Think the Florida Marlins can win the 2007 World Series? They would pay out $5000 on a $100 bet!"
And that is exactly what happened a few years ago when a $1000 bet on the Florida Marlins at mid-season paid out a whopping $100,000.
And how about those Washington Nationals. They were listed early on with odds of +15000. A $100 bet would pay out $15000. A $1000 bet would pay out $150,000 at 150 to 1 odds.
Last year's World Series winners, The St. Louis Cardinals, were listed with +1400 odds or 14 to 1 or a $100 bet would pay out $1400.
The important thing to consider when betting on MLB future odds is to do so with an online sportsbook that has an established record for longevity.
Bookmaker.com (see website here) as part of the BetCRIS.com family, has been in business since 1985, the oldest established online sports betting company catering to the North American market.
Bookmaker.com is offering the following Odds to Win the 2007 World Series as of April 5, 2007. *These odds were subject to change if not bet on by this date.
