Super Bowl Coin Toss Among the Most Popular Game Bets

Just as the toss of a coin will determine which team goes first, Super Bowl betting on the coin toss has become one of the biggest props and among the most random.

"It can go either way - heads or tails - and this is why oddsmakers tend to place even odds on the all so popular Super Bowl coin toss," commented Sports911.com's Tyrone Black.

Super Bowl Betting Deposit Methods Still Readily Available

If you are planning to bet on this year's Super Bowl like so many millions of other people, joining an online sportsbook this weekend will require immediate fund transfers.  Our advise: Credit cards or Western Union.

For online gambling websites like BetCRIS.com (see website here) depositing via Western Union is the fastest method of funding a betting account with larger sums of money 7 days a week.  This is currently BetCRIS' most popular method of sending money.

Sportsbook.com (see website here) has proven time and time again they are on top of their game when processing credit cards.  The company claims a very high acceptance rate if you have a Visa or Mastercard.

For Canadian sports bettors and others living outside the United States, your methods of depositing funds become more numerous with anything from electronic check to Moneybookers.  Canbet (see website here accepts customers outside the US for all your Super Bowl betting needs.

Proposition bets galore can be found at all of these websites.  Bet on everything from the first team to score to heads or tails on the coin toss.

Super Bowl betting should be fun and depositing into your new online betting account should not be a hassle.

Good luck to everyone this weekend.

Without a doubt, the hottest parties will be the Gambling911.com and Maxim Parties, Friday night and the Vice Party Saturday night.

The Gambling911.com party will encompass two lofts complete with four terraces, big screen televisions, ocean views (which nobody will be able to see), near naked women (most of whom will be Hawaiian Tropic hotties) and of course - the world's most respected reporter covering the online gambling arena, Gambling911.com's own sizzling Jenny Woo.

It would not surprise me if Snoop Dogg (Scheduled for Penthouse Party at Mansion) or Ludacris (Schedule for Beach Bowl at Nikki's) attend the event and jump up on stage for a few tracks with Pharrell. Diddy lives in Miami and just dropped a new joint so don’t count him out either, although he is throwing his own lavish party this weekend.

The evening plays on with special sets by DJ Jus Ske, DJ Ruckus, DJ Eric Cubiche, DJ Spider, and features a rare performance by Grammy winning musician, Miri Ben-Ari, known famously as “The Hip-Hop Violinist”.

Super Bowl Preview: Even Betting Action on Bears and Colts

With the biggest game of the year only  days away, the betting public has remained pretty consistent with their plays on both the Bears and Colts for this year's Super Bowl. Ever since the line was released a week and a half ago, the bettors have been almost split down the middle with whom they are backing. The Bears (+7) have been getting slightly more support from the public but those numbers are inching toward the 50/50 mark. Last week, 56% of the money was backing the Bears; that number stands now at 53%.

When handicapping the biggest game of the year, it is imperative for bettors to consider much more than just the head to head match-up of Grossman vs. Manning. While the discrepancies in these two QB’s are huge, there is so much more to take into consideration. Of course Sportsbook.com offers all of the latest betting trends and key statistics for the biggest game of the year under the “Trends” section. Now let’s breakdown the keys for each team:

Bears Offense vs. Colts Defense
The Bears will look to control the clock with their extremely consistent ground game which averages 123.8 RYPG. Behind their two-headed attack of Thomas Jones and Cedric Benson, the Bears have rushed for 100+ yards in eleven out of their last twelve games. Before the playoffs, the Bears RB’s would have drooled at matching up against the Colts “D”. During the regular season, the Colts gave up a pathetic 173 RYPG, bad enough for dead last in the NFL. Their rushing defense has made a complete 180 degree turn during the playoffs. On average, Colts’ opponents rushed for 100 fewer yards during the postseason. Moreover, the Colts were able to hold all three of their postseason opponents to under 100 yards; something they were unable to achieve the whole regular season.

Colts Offense vs. Bears Defense
As everyone knows, the Colts have an extremely balance offensive unit led by the NFL’s leading passer, Peyton Manning. The Bears have a solid rushing defense that allowed only 98.8 RYPG this season. Over the last five games, only one opponent was able to surpass the 100 yard mark. The Bears passing defense has struggled quite a bit as of late. Through their first 10 games, the Bears game up only 153.6 PYPG. From Week 11 on, that number has skyrocketed to 261.4 PYPG. Manning will definitely have his opportunities but whether or not he will be able to capitalize is another matter. He definitely has not performed at his best during the playoffs. In his three games he has thrown just 2 touchdowns but 6 interceptions. In each playoff game he failed to surpass a passer rating of 80. This is mind boggling, considering that during the 16 game regular season he failed to reach this mark only four times.

When it comes to Special Teams, each team has their not so secret weapon. The Bears have the games best return man in rookie, Devin Hester. All Hester did in his inaugural season was average 26.4 yards per kickoff return, 12.8 yards per punt return and 5 total return touchdowns. If the game comes down to a kicking game, you have to like the Colts’ chances. During the off-season they acquired the game’s most clutch kicker of all-time, Adam Vinatieri. Vinatieri has not disappointed, all he has done was connect on 89.3% of his FG’s including a perfect 11/11 during the postseason.

Log on to Sportsbook.com to check out the 250+ props, that are all available for download.  If you want to use your Credit Card to bet on the Super Bowl, keep in mind that Sportsbook.com has the highest CC acceptance rate in the industry. Enjoy the game!

Super Bowl Sunday: Betting Tips from Pinnacle Sports

According to USA Today, half of all Americans will wager on the Super Bowl, as a result, 90% of bets on the game are made by novice gamblers. Aware of the opportunity to attract new customers, sportsbooks understandably focus an enormous amount of energy on the biggest game on the sports schedule. The most successful approach to excite these armchair bettors is to offer propositions that promise potentially big returns for a very modest outlay, and those that focus on seemingly random or humorous events.

The problem that books face with this approach is that often just one odds maker is pricing the lines based on variables that he has far less reliable data on than he is used to. These propositions can be the easiest for an educated player to beat and sportsbooks routinely lose money on them. Propositions are a loss-leader for the betting world to tempt new bettors who will end up losing money on one of the more lucrative areas for the bookie. To protect themselves in this unusually vulnerable situation, sportsbooks build in inordinately large margins - typically using a 30 or 40-cent line with low wagering limits - yet will often consider a break-even result a success.

When you wager on a proposition, it’s typically your opinion versus one odds maker. If you know more than that one odds maker, you are going to get the best of it. For Super Bowl XLI,
PinnacleSports.com (see website here) is offering 588 props with many priced at a world beating 15-cent line, a significant savings versus the 30 to 40-cent lines at other online books.  *PinnacleSports.com does not accept customers from the US at this time.

With this many wagering options and the public betting like mad, it's not uncommon to see prop lines move on public money alone. At Pinnacle Sportsbetting, there are several professional prop players that will take a contrarian view on our props and bet almost any one that moves more than 20 cents (betting towards the original price). Therefore, the "Pinnacle Lean" is useful for measuring market prices on props as well as on sides and totals. For example, PinnacleSports.com is offering the following prop: "Who will score the first TD?" at Colts -145/Bears +130. This suggests that the no-vig price based on our 15-cent line is -137.5/+137.5. Therefore, you can "play the lean" if you find another book with the Yes at -136.5, or the No at +138.5.

The biggest mistake that players and odds makers make when evaluating props is in not understanding the difference between the median and the mean (average). Most players would assume that the average (total/frequency) is an accurate measure, but the correct way to analyze many of these types of props is to use the median. Looking at a list of theoretical score lengths in ascending order, the median is the middle number:

1

1

17

20 (median)

39

47

59

If you assumed before Sunday’s game that these seven scores would occur, and assessed the prop “Will the first score be more than 24.5 yards?” you’d price the “No” knowing the under would hit four out of seven times, making the no-vig price on the “No” -133 or (-4/3*100). Whereas if you took the average it would give you a very different answer (26.3), and lead you to the very different and misleading conclusion that the over is more likely.

Although this concept is simple and rather obvious, it will pay dividends to anyone who spends time calculating the median. The median is useful on all types of props – from “length of first rush” to the “longest/shortest” props (where you use the median result from games for the whole season). In fact, there are two straightforward ways to accurately price these types of props.

First, you’ll want to use as much data as possible. Since the Colts have played 19 games and Chicago has played 18 games, this gives you a much better estimate of a fair mid-point. You should also consider adjusting your data for the opponent, perhaps ignoring some data for games that aren’t similar to their Super Bowl opponent. Sharp bettors might only use data where both teams were playing under similar spread scenarios (though this might produce a small sample for the Bears).

What are players betting at Pinnacle Sports Book?

Chicago +6.5 +103 vs. Indianapolis

It appears like our opening line of Indianapolis -6.5 is solid, as we haven’t had to move off the number just yet. In the nearly two weeks since the Conference Championships, the Super Bowl line has only moved four cents from -115 to -111. Public opinion of the AFC being the stronger conference has been evident throughout, while the larger volume bets have come in on the Bears. While the line is standing at 6.5 (-111), it could easily move to the 7 on Sunday when we expect a flurry of bets before kickoff.

Chicago vs. Indianapolis Under 48 points -115

The Super Bowl total opened at 48.5 with two-way betting to start although the heavier volume came in on the under pushing the line down a few cents. This was followed by many small wagers on the over, mixed in with plays on the under. The line was pushed down to 48 after several large plays on the under from our sharper players. Although we’ve received three times as many plays on the over, the larger volume on the under has the line standing at -115 on the under, which could move another half point by kickoff on Sunday to 47.5.

Chicago +3.5 -102 vs. Indianapolis 1st Half

Indianapolis opened as 4-point favorites in the first half at -111. All of the early betting for the Super Bowl first half line was on Chicago, dropping the line to 3.5 before we saw any buyback on the Colts. The line has since settled at 3.5 where we are seeing more balanced action.

Chicago vs. Indianapolis 1st Half Under 24.5 -132

We opened the first half total at 24.5 with the under a -125 favorite. Early betting clearly favored the over with some mixed buyback on the under. The line has been lowered seven cents due to the game total being lowered even though we’ve received five times more plays on the first half over.

Carrie Underwood Takes Tony Romo to the Super Bowl

The meteoric rise and fall of Tony Romo this past season hasn't exactly phased Carrie Underwood.  The two have been dating since shortly after Romo was named as a starter for the Dallas Cowboys.

Sports911.com has learned that Carrie Underwood and the dapper Mr. Romo will be attending this weekend's Super Bowl in Miami.  No word yet on whether the two will be attending the Sports911.com Party Friday night in Miami Beach.

A friend of Sports911.com's sold 50 yrd line club seats to none other than Carrie Underwood! $20,000 a piece x4 and she's taking Tony Romo with her.  Not sure if Romo is pitching in.

Carrie Underwood is performing at next month's Grammy Awards show. She says she's got a pretty good idea what song she'll sing but she wants it to be a surprise.

Underwood says having a country music artist performing at the Grammys is good for the genre and there should be more country acts at awards shows.

Why the Local Bookie Could be a Big Winner in 2007 Super Bowl

By PETER SANDERS, Wall Street Journal
January 31, 2007; Page B1

On Sunday, a 28-year-old Hollywood assistant named Seth plans to enjoy the Super Bowl in the same way millions of other football fans will: He'll bet on it.

How, exactly, will he wager that $100 burning a hole in his pocket? One thing he knows for sure is that he won't do it legally. Trekking to Vegas for the weekend is out of the question. And he won't do it using one of the publicly traded online services based abroad that have been taking sports bets from Americans over the past few years. They have mostly stopped taking action from U.S. residents in the wake of an aggressive government crackdown on Internet wagering.

But that doesn't mean he and other gamblers will be shut out. In fact, the government's war against illegal online wagering may be driving gamblers back to where they started: their local bookie. And in an ironic twist, there's a good chance the bookmaker is taking bets over the Internet, too.

"Even my bookie is online these days," says Seth. He would be logging in to place his bet but misplaced the username and password the bookmaker gave him. "I guess I'll just have to call him and get him to resend me the instructions, sort of a tech support for the sports bettor," he says.

The government's crackdown has, in recent months, targeted executives at offshore Internet-gambling outfits and the foreign credit-card-processing companies that facilitate the transactions with U.S. bettors. But while it may have dented the $12-billion-a-year online-gambling industry, it didn't break it.

No one thinks that American gamblers' appetites have waned either. Last year, about $94.5 million was legally wagered on the Super Bowl in Nevada casinos, the only place in the land where it's lawful to bet on sports. Illegally, the American Gaming Association -- a casino-industry trade group -- figures that Americans bet between $5 billion and $6 billion each year on football's marquee event.

"The likely impact is that people who previously wagered on legal, regulated sites ... will now call a local bookie or bet on an unregulated site," says Alan Feldman, a spokesman for casino giant MGM Mirage.

It's true that many of the publicly traded online-gambling sites have pulled out of the U.S. market since last summer. Some have folded entirely. And the Justice Department served subpoenas to a number of investment banks that allegedly helped underwrite foreign public-stock offerings for some of the companies.

But as the kickoff at Super Bowl XLI in Miami gets nearer, the overall picture of Internet gambling has only gotten muddier. It's not just that local bookies are taking bets over the Internet. For every established Internet-gambling company that has stopped accepting bets from the U.S., others have cropped up to fill the void.

"The online-gambling ban should be renamed the Sopranos Support Bill," says Wayne Allyn Root, an outspoken professional sports handicapper in Las Vegas. "All of this money has moved to brand-new, privately held companies [that] opened overnight and [are] run by criminals engaging in fraud and organized crime."

"The crackdown has taken the online bets out of a fairly transparent set of companies and put them into companies that aren't transparent at all," adds Sue Schneider, president and CEO of River City Group, a St. Charles, Mo., Internet-gambling consultancy. "Players could be more at risk."

To eliminate paper trails and take advantage of technology, some bookmakers have apparently joined forces with offshore-betting sites and now issue their clients account numbers. Bettors log on to the Web sites like ordinary gamblers and enter their account numbers. But instead of sending credit-card data, they simply make their bets, which are linked electronically to their bookie's name. The bookie keeps track of his clients online but still collects debts and pays winnings the old-fashioned way: in person. He likely pays a cut to the Web-site operators.

Nelson Rose, a law professor and expert in gambling law, has fielded dozens of phone calls from casual gamblers since the U.S. government went on the offensive. The No. 1 question: "Will I get arrested for betting on sports?" His response: "About as likely as the chances of their winning the World Series of Poker." In other words: not likely.

But even before the government's sudden interest in chasing down online-gambling companies, some sports bettors found the online experience frustrating. Most online-gambling sites required U.S. bettors to open an online account and deposit a certain sum via credit card. Betting losses would be deducted from the account and wins credited.

Seth once had an account like this, but after a few months of losses, he decided it was too laborious and resumed using his local bookmaker. Months later, he says, he still receives annoying telemarketing calls from the site.

For the Super Bowl, Seth says that if logging onto his bookie's site is too complicated, he may just skip the bet altogether. "I don't think I'd work that hard just to lose $100," he adds.

Peyton Manning Super Bowl Betting Props

Carrie Stroup here with some great Peyton Manning Super Bowl betting props.  This Sunday, nine year NFL veteran Peyton Manning, will attempt to finally shake a stereotype that has followed him for years: not being able to win when it matters most. He has gone a long way to shed this label over the last two seasons but if the Colts do not win this Sunday, Manning detractors will be quick to call Manning a “choker”. It appears as if Manning could very well be on his way to shaking this label. He has defeated his nemesis the Patriots in their last three meetings. This is a huge accomplishment considering how much the Pats have owned Manning and the Colts in recent years.

The Colts have made it to the Super Bowl despite Manning’s recent play. Through the regular season, Manning was among the NFL’s elite quarterbacks, as usual. He led the league in passer rating (101), first in touchdowns (31), and second in passing yardage (4397). During the playoffs, Manning has struggled from a statistical standpoint. In their three playoff games, Manning has thrown only 2 touchdowns to 6 interceptions. With the Colts laying 7 points, Manning will definitely need to produce like he did during the regular season if he is going to help Colts’ bettors cash in.
