Illinois Senator and Democratic US Presidential candidate, Barack Obama, may be in for some media headaches in the coming days following a triumphant double digit victory in South Carolina. Seems his long time Pastor and spiritual advisor has gone on a rant once again, this time against a presumed dead teenager, Natalee Holloway. Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the controversial minister of Obama's church in Chicago, cited the case of Natalee Holloway's disappearance in Aruba in complaining about what he sees as the media's bias in covering white victims of crime over black victims. In a WorldNet Daily exclusive the web publication reveals how church documents quote Wright as saying: "Black women are being raped daily in Darfur, Sudan, in the Congo and in Sub-Saharan Africa. That doesn't make news," Wright said in the August 2005 edition of Trumpet Magazine, a publication of his Trinity United Church of Christ. "But, "One 18-year-old white girl from Alabama gets drunk on a graduation trip to Aruba, goes off and 'gives it up' while in a foreign country, and that stays in the news for months!" he added. "Maybe I am missing something!" Apparently he is missing something. Tawana Brawley, the young African American girl whose "cries of rape" allegedly at the hands of a local New York State police officer made headlines for months back in the 1980's, and the fact that the media stream media has a tendency to hand pick which "rape" cases it will report on regardless of race or religion. "Should Barack Obama win the Democratic nomination, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright will become much more famous than he is now, and much more famous than he would ever want to be," writes Alex Beam of the Boston Globe. "For obvious reasons, Obama has had to put some distance between himself and his pastor. But to his credit, he has not severed his ties with Wright, and there is no indication that he will. To her credit, Hillary Clinton, who paints herself as a church-attending, Chicago-area Christian Protestant when it suits her, has not dragged Wright and Trinity into her anti-Obama smear campaign. Yet." The alleged Holloway remarks may change that. Natalee Ann Holloway (born October 21, 1986) is an American student from Mountain Brook, Alabama who disappeared on May 30, 2005 during a high school graduation trip in Aruba. The disappearance generated a media sensation in the United States and Aruba and sparked considerable interest in the Netherlands. On December 18, 2007, Aruban prosecutors announced that the case would be closed without any charges brought against any of the suspects, who are now no longer considered suspects under Aruban law. The case can only be reopened if substantial evidence comes to light. The Holloway case touched a nerve among the American public. The Pastor's alleged remarks go beyond race but rather imply that 'Holloway' as a woman may have been asking for it. Obviously, Obama did not make the statements and should not be held accountable for what his Pastor allegedly said based on the WND account. Still, Obama's association with Wright is becoming more of a detriment to his campaign it seems.
