Obama Odds Continue to Improve

When the updated 2008 US Presidential betting odds are posted on Wednesday, Gambling911.com is predicting that Democratic Senator Barack Obama will become a decisive favorite and Hillary Clinton will have her longest odds to date.

Already, heading into Wisconsin's Primary contest, Hillary Clinton was teetering around 3/1 odds at places like Sportsbook.com.  In fact, Mrs. Clinton's odds for the first time were longer than Republican Senator John McCain's.

Barack Obama enjoyed a huge win over Clinton Tuesday night, receiving 58 percent of the overall vote. It was Obama's 9th win in a row and that had to have the Clinton campaign nervous.

"The change we seek is still months and miles away," Obama said Tuesday night in Houston, Texas.

"It is going to take more than big rallies. It is going to require more than rousing speeches ... it is going to require something more because the problem that we face in America today is not the lack of good ideas. It's that Washington has become a place where good ideas go to die," he said.

Obama leads Clinton in the overall delegate count -- 1,263 to 1,212, according to CNN estimates. The estimate includes the support of superdelegates, the party officials and elected officials who are free to vote for any candidate at the party's national convention. Ninety-four Democratic delegates are at stake Tuesday.

Both candidates are short of the 2,025 delegates needed to win the nomination, and it is very likely the roughly 800 superdelegates will ultimately decide who will be chosen as the Democratic presidential nominee.

No polling was available at press time Tuesday night Eastern Standard Time for the Hawaii Democratic caucus. The Clinton campaign dispatched Chelsea Clinton, the candidate's daughter, to rally support. Obama's sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng, has stumped for her brother.
