Get him while he's hot. When online bookmakers open their betting odds for Illinois Senator Barack Obama to become the next US President there is a good chance he will be listed as a much bigger favorite than Hillary Clinton come Wednesday. That's because he just swept the Potomac Primaries and this follows another clean sweep of states featured in last weekend's Primaries and Caucuses. Obama came into this event as only a slight favorite verses Clinton, both with minus odds however. The Tuesday night showing is likely to make Hillary a dog for the first time ever during this campaign. Early prediction markets had Clinton winning the Democratic nomination but since the start of the new year, Obama has been gaining much ground in the betting segment. Many more gamblers are wagering on Obama than they are Clinton. Barack Obama won the Virginia primary Tuesday, and also scored long-anticipated victories in Maryland and the District of Columbia - a triple play that keeps his momentum rolling and throws Hillary Rodham Clinton further on the defensive. A count by the Associated Press showed him leading Clinton by a 1,186 to 1,181 margin. Both are far from the 2,025 needed to win the nomination.
“Today, the change
we seek swept
through Chesapeake
and over the
Potomac,’’ Obama
said at a rally
Tuesday night on the
stage of his next
contest, Wisconsin.
“We won the state of
Maryland, we won the
Commonwealth of
Virginia, and though
we won in
Washington, D.C.,
this campaign won’t
stop until there is
change in
Washington, D.C.’’ Find More News from Gambling911.com Here ---- Christopher Costigan, Gambling911.com Publisher CCostigan@CostiganMedia.com Originally published February 12, 2008 11:12 pm EST
