The Premier League continues this weekend! The games will be played behind closed doors because of the COVID-19 pandemic and we had an interesting contest on Saturday with Norwich City hosting Brighton and Hove Albion.  This was the first of the Premier League matches to be played Saturday.

Norwich City lost 4-0 on the road against Arsenal on Wednesday while Brighton and Hove Albion is coming off a 3-0 setback at home against Manchester United last Tuesday. Norwich City is in last place in the Premier League standings with just 21 points in 32 games while Brighton and Hove Albion is 15th with 33 points in 32 games.

This match ended with Brighton winning 1-0 and a payout of US$13 for every US$10 bet.

Key Points to Consider

Last 6:

Norwich City, coming off a 4-0 road loss against Arsenal, had five losses, one draw and zero wins in their last six overall. Brighton and Hove Albion, coming off a 3-0 home loss against Manchester United, had three draws, two losses and one win in their last six overall.

Momentum: Norwich City had been on a downward trend -- losing their last four games in the Premier League.  Therefore it was easy to see why Brighton would walk away with the win.

Head-to-Head: These two teams last met in Premier League action on November 2, 2019 and Brighton and Hove Albion won 2-0.

The Early Projected Leaders

Simulations run in conjunction with Payperhead247 projected Teemu Pukki, Aaron Connolly and Emiliano Buendía as the players most likely to score (two of these three players are from Norwich City).  In the end, it was Leandro Trossard who scored the lone goal.

Heading into Saturday's match, this one appeared to be a very close matchup. In 10,000 simulations Brighton & Hove Albion won 32.3 percent, Norwich City won 30.6 percent and there was a 37.1 percent chance of a draw.

The leading scorer for Brighton and Hove Albion is Aaron Connolly with a 23 percent chance of scoring one or more goals. When he has at least one goal, Brighton and Hove Albion has a 63 percent chance to win on the road.  That obviously did not happen on Saturday.

These two teams have scored a combined two goals in their last six Premier League games prior to Saturday's match. Norwich City hasn't scored in their last four Premier League games and they have just one goal in their last six Premier League contests, counting this one.

We were backing the UNDER and it came through in a big way.

Speaking after the game, Brighton boss Graham Potter said: “It's one of those days when the result is the most important thing.

“To get three points and a clean sheet you need a little luck, and we had it at the end with the post.

“But we're absolutely delighted.

“We've got five more games to go, and we're still fighting for the points.

“This is a unique season and what has happened in the past, we can't take too much from that.”

Many sportsbooks have stopped taking bets on college football in light of the Big 10 and PAC 12 cancelling their fall seasons.

With the Big 10 and PAC 12 officially cancelling their college football slate this fall, one has to wonder how this will impact the sportsbooks bottom line. Of course, attempts to play in the spring would likely more than make up for any losses down the road.

The Big 10 Presidents were set to meet at 10:30 am ET to discuss whether they will have fall football.  Should they decide not to, the Pac-12 is likely to follow.  Among the remaining three Power 5 teams, the Big 12 has stayed quiet while both the SEC and AAC are leaning more towards playing.  Throwing a monkey wrench into the situation, some Big 10 teams like Nebraska have said they are willing to play elsewhere should the conference cancel.
