NewBodog.com on Top of Google Search for "Bodog.com"Bodog Founder Calvin Ayre (or should we say, NewBodog.com founder) may have won a battle in his war to retrieve the coveted Bodog.com domain name back. Type in "Bodog.com" into Google search and Ayre's "temporary" website NewBodog.com appears second, only after "Bodog.com School Betting Archives", which redirects to nowhere.
On August 28, 2007, as a result of a patent dispute judgment, Bodog "temporarily" lost control of the Bodog.com URL.
A judge for the Superior Court of Kings County in Seattle, Washington handed down a foreign judgment in the amount of $ 48,937,456.00 in the case of 1ST TECHNOLOGY LLC VS BODOG ENT GROUP S.A. Bodog claimed it was not properly served.
"Less than two weeks after getting its old domain stolen by Patent Trolls, Bodog is again on top," a high ranking company official who wished not to be identified told Gambling911.com. "Bodog has won this battle so far."
Ayre has been on the war path this past week announcing to the world that "this battle will be fought on Mohawk territory", alluding to the idea that historically violent Canadian Mohawk Indians had assumed control of the Bodog.com domain name prior to the court ruling.
"The Mohawks aren't exactly known for backing down from a fight (case in point: the Oka Crisis); and they don't exactly take kindly to folks who try to steal from them," Ayre harps in his NewCalvinAyre blog.
Ayre himself is not known to back down, unless confronted by a few dozen rowdy Hell's Angels where he might be seen slipping out the back door of a dive bar.
"It should be very interesting, then, to see how they'll handle the Patent Trolls over at 1st Technology who are trying to bleed $50 million out of them…all because of some lame patent that 1st Technology claims to have over their Bodog domains. Dr. Scott W. Lewis is the man behind 1st Technology and I'll bet any money he's wishing he was going head to head with me… rather than the Mohawk Nation."
Only two weeks ago, Bodog ruled the search engines with top rankings for generic and extremely popular online gambling related key words such as "NFL Betting" and "Online Poker".
Experts suggest it is only a matter of time before Bodog is able to get back those ranks, though it won't be as easy a battle.
"He has a qualified team who can manage this in the coming months," one industry search pro told Gambling911.com.
Whether Bodog wishes to exhaust its efforts on what is likely just a "temporary" NewBodog.com domain name remains to be seen.
