Gambling911.com has all your latest news as it pertains to legalized sports betting in New York State.  First we take a quick look at some of the pros and cons.  As we have previously report, the biggest single impediment to New York's success is that they do not currently offer online wagering and the existing sportsbooks tend to be located in casinos far from most population centers

Pros Cons
*Some cities like Buffalo have easy enough access to sportsbooks *Most population centers are not close to the state's casinos and mobile not available
*Betting available most sports *Games featuring state college teams cannot be wagered on.  This includes Syracuse in College Basketball
*Immediate payouts at casino venue *Offshore books like BetOnline allow those 18 and up to bet

Sports Betting Arrives in Buffalo

(December 17, 2019) - The Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino opened its sportsbook over the weekend with betting kiosks and staffed windows.  And what a great time to open a sportsbook in the Buffalo area with the Bills looking to make a deep run in the Playoffs, potentially even winning the AFC East.

Seneca Nation President Rickey Armstrong Sr. bet $40 on the Bills to beat the Steelers, ushering in sports betting at the Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino on Friday.

While mobile sports betting is prohibited in the state, customers can build a bet offsite on a mobile device, then receive a QR code to complete the bet on the property.

Customers will not be permitted to place bets on games featuring New York State college teams, including the Syracuse Orange in College Basketball.

Armstrong called the addition of on-site sports betting "monumental," but he said he still hoped for an expanded version of sports wagering.

"Brick and mortar [betting] is going to be substantial profit, but we're also waiting for (online betting) to come in, maybe next year through legislation," said Armstrong, dressed in a replica Sabres jersey with uniform No. 21.

Sports Betting Revenue Low in New York So Far

(December 17, 2019) - The tiny state of Delaware actually surpassed New York's sports betting revenue last month.

Revenue was just $1.3 million in October. For comparison, Delaware had $3 million in revenue, with about 5% of New York’s population.
