Hillary Clinton Wins New Hampshire in Shocking Upset

Hillary Clinton has been declared the winner in the New Hampshire Democratic primary in a shocker as all polls had indicated Obama would win and by a wide margin.

Clinton was a slight favorite to win the New Hampshire primary immediately following he third place finish in Iowa.  It was a startling defeat even though oddsmakers still had Clinton the favorite to become the next US President.

John McCain Wins in New Hampshire: Hillary Clinton Leads Early

Arizona Senator John McCain has mounted an amazing comeback within the Republican party.  CNN has projected McCain as the winner in the New Hampshire Republican Primary.  Meanwhile, on the Democratic side, there was somewhat of an early surprise as Hillary Clinton had been leading Barack Obama with nearly 15% of the precincts reporting in.

TIME Magazine Take on Republican Primary Race

The Republican picture was less clear-cut—all question marks, close calls, and sagging spirits. John McCain, the Arizona senator whose campaign spent the summer in ICU, was coming on strong in a bid to repeat his 2000 New Hampshire victory. But then former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney dominated the final pre-election debate, a feat he followed up with a massive turnout operation that included 100,000 phone calls to prospective voters. Romney's well-funded campaign took a big hit in Iowa on Thursday, when former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee whipped him badly, and a second loss in New Hampshire—where Romney owns a summer home— might finish him off.

New Hampshire Primaries Heat Up: John McCain, Barack Obama Lead Early Polling

Ron Paul supporters may be thrilled to know that their candidate received 4 early votes in one of the first New Hampshire primary towns to cast votes Tuesday morning.  Paul came away with 4 votes while John McCain led the way with 6.  Mike Huckabee had 5 and Mitt Romney had 1.  Whether voting in this small town of Hart's Location will be a precursor of things to come remain to be seen.

Jay Leno Expresses Frustration with Fox News Over Ron Paul Exclusion

NBC Tonight Show host Jay Leno felt Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul got a raw deal from Fox News after he was excluded from their Sunday night debate.

"He (Ron Paul) is tied with Rudy Giuliani in the state of New Hampshire according to polls.  He's not an obscure candidate," said Leno, who believes that Fox News excluded Paul simply because they do not like his politics.

Supporters of Paul called for a boycott of Fox and all its sponsors last week following the news and the New Hampshire GOP later dropped their sponsorship of Sunday night's Republican debate.  An unprecedented 96% of AOL respondents believed it was unfair to keep the long time Texas Congressman out.

Fox News Makes Ron Paul Look Worse Than bin Laden

Who's worse in Fox News eyes?  2008 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul or enemy number one, Usama bin Laden?  It's hard to tell.

Fox excluded the long time Texas Congressman from its Sunday night debate despite Paul leading a few of his Republican colleagues in New Hampshire, all of whom were invited.  The Republican GOP in the state even pulled its support for the debate.

John McCain Will Win Michigan Primaries Say Oddsmakers

The New Hampshire primaries have not even taken place yet, but already oddsmakers and online gamblers alike have their money on John McCain to win Michigan.

McCain, the Republican Senator from Arizona who is campaigning to become the next President of the United States, has had his odds slashed in two of the upcoming primaries: New Hampshire and Michigan, both of which he is now the favorite to win.

Fox Watching the Chicken Coop: Voters Watching Ron Paul on Jay Leno Again

Some good news coming out of US Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul's exclusion from a Sunday Night Fox News debate.  He just got a second invite to appear on the Jay Leno Show Monday night, less than 24 hours before the much ballyhooed New Hampshire primaries.  Ron Paul is polling between 10% and 13% in that state, ahead of nearly everyone except Senator John McCain and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney.

John McCain Odds Shortened Significantly: Now Favored to Get GOP Nomination

With a potential huge win in New Hampshire this coming Tuesday, Senator John McCain is back in the driver's seat after his campaign was left for dead only a month ago.

His odds to become the next US President have also been slashed substantially.  But Sportsbook.com never gave up on the Arizona maverick Senator.  Even during his darkest days of campaigning, Sportsbook continued to maintain his odds at 5 to 1.  After posting longer odds for a very brief time, McCain was back in single digits and heading into New Hampshire, he is now listed with 7 to 2 odds of becoming the next President.

Are Ron Paul Supporters Really Hurting Fox News Parent Company Shares?

They have been tumbling...

Rasmussen Poll Has Ron Paul at 14%: Oddsmakers Have him at 14/1 Odds of Winning New Hampshire

While oddsmakers have Republican John McCain the big winner in that party's bid at Tuesday's New Hampshire Primaries for US President, Ron Paul has been given +1400 (14 to 1) odds of winning - a $1400 payout for every $100 bet at the Jesse Ventura endorsed BetUS.com

Ron Paul Gets Huge Boost in New Hampshire

An attempt by the Fox News Network to prevent Republican US Presidential candidate Ron Paul from participating in a New Hampshire debate has apparently backfired.  Following calls by Paul supporters to boycott Fox News, its sponsors and even short their shares, the worst blow against Fox came from the New Hampshire GOP itself, which announced Saturday it would be backing out of sponsoring the debate.   The news gives Ron Paul some interesting last minute exposure before Tuesday's New Hampshire Debate.

Ron Paul Best Payout Odds Yet

It's been a while since we saw Republican US Presidential candidate Ron Paul with such long betting odds: now 20/1 at Sportsbook.com - down from 10/1 and a peak at 6/1 this fall.  This is to be expected following his 5th place finish in Iowa we suppose.

But Iowa has 99 counties, and among the 25 or so Eastern most counties, Gambling911.com has observed that Ron Paul scored in 3rd place with close to 15% of the overall vote while Mike Huckabee's position was not nearly as strong in this region compared to the heavily enriched Evangelical Central counties of the state (where Paul performed in single digit numbers).  Only five counties in this region had Paul getting numbers that were at or below the state Caucus average for him.

John Edwards is a Wildcard for Gamblers

While there is talk that John Edwards needs wins in upcoming primaries to move forward due to his reported "lack of funding", those of us at Gambling911.com couldn't help but wonder why the mainstream media was painting such a dire forecast for the former US Senator from North Carolina who is running for President of the United States.   After all, he did come in an impressive 2nd place in Iowa Thursday, ahead of frontrunner, Hillary Clinton, and he was within striking distance of Barack Obama.

Betting Odds on the 2008 Presidential Elections

These were the latest betting odds on the 2008  US Presidential elections that were updated immediately following the Iowa Caucuses.

Reynolds on Ron Paul

Rudy Giuliani and Duncan Hunter are the big losers in Iowa receiving no delegates at all from the caucus (at the time of this writing 95% of the precincts had reported in).  Paul, McCain and Thompson scored a virtual three way tie with Paul getting 2 delegates while the others received 3.  Romney and Huckabee take the most with 12 and 17 respectively.  Since the candidates need a majority of 2380 delegates to win, the race has only just begun.  The two biggest surprises of the day were Ron Paul getting a total of 10% of the vote, not bad for a candidate that most have said is only polling around 3% and Rudy Giuliani who has been polling in the high thirties getting only 4% of the vote.  I guess that shows how much polls tell you.

Ron Paul Gets 14 Percent in Eastern Iowa

Ron Paul supporters may be able to rest easy on Friday and heading into New Hampshire now that some of the vote tallies have been broken down to determine what went wrong (or to some, what went right) for the 2008 US Presidential candidate in Iowa.  While his loyal support base may have been hoping for a stronger finish, CNN's Larry King and Wolf Blitzer both commented on how "strong a showing" Ron Paul made under the circumstances.

Poker Loving Presidential Candidate Barack Obama Big Win in Iowa

For the poker player, Barack Obama's big win in Iowa added some ray of hope to those who want prohibitions on Internet poker lifted.  While Obama has not been vocal on the subject of online poker legalization, his camp has hinted that he supports the activity, and why wouldn't he?
