New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks, Jaguars: Top Bets for SundayMore people were betting on the New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks and Jacksonville Jaguars than any other team. The Cleveland Browns followed closely.
"This is a reflection of how confident the betting public is in regard to certain teams performances," says Dan Shapiro of Gambling911.com. "We see that the Seattle Seahawks are starting to come into their own after some questionable play earlier in the season while Jacksonville is now looking like a contender for the AFC, assuming of course the Patriots weren't part of the league."
Seattle is now 6-4 after winning two straight and the betting public seems to believe that this week's game against St. Louis should help build the Seahawks lead further in the NFC West, which now features Arizona as a contender (5-5). The Cardinals, in fact, were among the top 10 bets playing against a lowly San Francisco team this week. A Seattle loss and an Arizona win would tie the two teams. Arizona had been listed with 4/1 odds of winning that division early in the season at Bookmaker.com
The Jaguars are coming into their own, sporting a 7-3 record and having won their last two games. They host Buffalo this week. The Bills looked awful against New England last week however.
The line on the New England Patriots/Philadelphia Eagles game opened at Patriots -17 and has jumped all the way to -25 at the Las Vegas Hilton, where you cannot bet online. You can get this one New England -24 1/2 at Sportsbook.com More than 85% of the betting action was coming in on the Patriots.
Cleveland is winning over the hearts and pocketbooks of the betting public. They could easily have been 7-3 this week after a tight game against Pittsburgh two weeks ago. Then again, they nearly lost to Baltimore last week in a controversial game that went into overtime. The betting public still believes Cleveland can beat Houston at home by 3 1/2 points. They were listed with +5000 odds to win this division by the way.
If you liked Cleveland, BetUS had them at -3.
The New York Giants, Saints and Buccaneers were still favorites among bettors.
