Today's free pick will be on the Nationals-Marlins game.  Washington was coming in at -226, Miami at +208 (playing at home no less) and the total was sitting at 7.

Washington has scored five or more points in six of their last ten games overall.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Nationals RH Max Scherzer (13-5, 2.43 ERA) vs. Marlins RH Pablo Lopez (2-1, 5.09)

Scherzer has won three straight starts after suffering through an uncustomary stretch in which he went 0-4 over a five-start span.  2-0 with a 5.54 ERA versus the Marlins this season and 9-3 with a 3.51 ERA in 16 career starts.

Lopez will be making his fifth big-league start and has pitched six innings in three of the first four and is coming off a win against Tampa. opez received a no-decision against the Nationals on July 5 when he allowed five runs and five hits over five innings.

In four of the last five meetings between these two teams in 2018, at least one has scored ten or more runs.  We have seen 22 and 26 runs scored in two of those games total.

Expect Scherzer to be a bit more relaxed (complacent shall we say) coming into this one and Lopez could end up giving up a significant enough number of runs against a Nationals team capable of scoring.

Miami has won six of their last ten.
