Nathan's
Hot Dog Eating
Contest Odds
(Updated)
The Nathan's Hot Dog
Eating contest odds
have had to be
updated dramatically
within the last 24
hours due to heavy
betting on this
event at both
Sportsbook.com
and
Bookmaker.com.
Sportsbook.com is
offering odds on the
actual contestants
while Bookmaker.com
is offering betting
odds on the
over/under number of
hotdogs that will
get devoured.
At
Sportsbook.com
both Joey Chestnut
and Takeru Kobayashi
were dead even
favorites that
required a $23 bet
to win $20 (you
would get the
initial $23 bet back
as well if your bet
is a winner).
One of the better
values here is the
"field" choice,
which encompasses
everyone else and
pays $3 for every $1
bet.
In an interesting
development,
Bookmaker.com
cut its total
odds on the number
of hot dogs that
would be eaten down
from 68 1/2 to 56
1/2.
Gambling911.com had
recommended the
UNDER on the 68 1/2
following news that
the contest could be
reduced from 12
minutes to 10
minutes.
"Gamblers are hungry
for something to bet
on this time of
year,"
Gambling911.com's
Payton O'Brien
stated. "There is
baseball and then
there is....well,
the 2008 Nathan's
Hot Dog Eating
Contest."
And the contest
usually brings in
more money the 4th
of July than does
baseball. This
year will be no
exception as the
interest in this
year's Nathan's Hot
Dog Eating Contest
betting is quite
substantial.
