Australian National Rugby League stars Mark Gasnier and Jarryd Hayne were believed to have been targeted in a late night drive by shooting outside a Kings Cross nightclub. Parramatta rugby league club CEO Denis Fitzgerald said he believed Hayne had been caught up in a shooting and the club was trying to locate the player.

Mark Gasnier. Hayne is widely regarded as one of rugby league's best young players. His excellent try scoring ability saw him rewarded with the 2006 Dally M 'Rookie of the Year' award and a spot on the Kangaroos Squad. Mark Gasnier has been named sole captain of the Dragons for the current 2008 season. The 26-year old is the nephew of Dragons' Immortal Reg Gasnier.
