NFL Thursday Night Football Betting - Jets vs. Ravens

The money is moving towards the Ravens and why not? It’s going to be difficult to find anybody that wants to bet on the Jets in this matchup. Although the Jets are coming off a win against Miami, that win means nothing. The Miami Dolphins are 3-10 and maybe have shown some defensive promise and a few good moments on offense, overall, they are awful,  and they nearly pulled it off in a 22-21 loss against the Jets. The online sportsbooks opened this one up at 14 ½ and the money has crept up to as much as 16 ½ with a few smatterings of 16. Nobody has confidence in the Jets on the road, especially against the 11-2 Ravens.

New York Jets vs. Baltimore Ravens Preview and Predictions

Lamar Jackson has taken the league by storm. What he is doing is “sickness”, it’s downright phenomenal. Right now, we have to say this guy is a prodigy. He’s a star and teams are struggling to figure him out. There is no hyperbole here, just facts that back up what we say.

Let’s compare quarterbacks: Jackson comes into tonight’s game with 230 strikes passing against 347 attempts, for 2677 yards with 28 TDs and just 6 INTs. These are very solid numbers especially the TD to INT ratio. Now, the numbers are not outstanding when put up side by side with Sam Darnold. Darnold is 216-347 with 2424 passing yards. He has the yards, but the INTs are a glaring problem with just 15 TDs and 11 INTs. Theses stats really don’t matter, what matters is rushing yards. Jackson is easily the team leader for the Ravens with 1017 yards and 7 rushing TDs. This is the “sick” part. The man is difficult to contain for good teams with a solid defense such as Buffalo last Sunday. Buffalo put up a great effort but lost a home game. The Ravens are a buzz saw and did we mention – the Jets are awful…

The Jets are 1-5 on the road and Le’Veon Bell has a grand total of 589 rushing yards and 3 TDs for the season. This is close to 400 yards less than Lamar Jackson! The Ravens win this battle everywhere we look at the numbers. The Ravens score 33.1 points per game and allow 18.2. The Jets are scoring 17.4 per game and are allowing 23.2. The Ravens average 416.6 total yards of offense per game, the Jets are averaging 294.3. The Jets actually beat them in the passing yards category with 218.7 per game and the Ravens with 215.7. The rushing yards category is the beast – with the Ravens coming in at 200.9 yards per game and the Jets just 75.6. The Jets are playing very good rushing defense and allowing just 78.8 yards per game against 95.6 yards allowed by the Ravens.

Can the Jets hold the Ravens to less than 200 rushing yards, what about less than 150? Does good defense win out over Lamar Jackson and his running game? We don’t think so. The Ravens marched into Buffalo last week and beat a good football team. A team that was riding high after whacking the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day.

We hate going with the public, and more often than not the public is wrong. The online bookmakers set their lines according to what the public likes and this often works for them. We like public opinion this week and think that the Ravens are a much better team than the Jets. In the friendly confines at home in Baltimore, we have to like -16. Lay the points on this one and look for a few great prop bets such as Lamar Jackson and rushing yards or Sam Darnold and passing yards. We see this one ending in a blowout favoring the Ravens.
