NFL Betting – 2019 Week 6 Wise Guy Picks

The first five weeks of the 2019 NFL season have been interesting to say the least. Injuries have stolen the headlines with a number of high-profile quarterbacks out of the lineup and some done for the season. If you had Washington’s Jay Gruden as the first coach fired, congratulations! And at the one-quarter point in the year the New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers are the only unbeatens remaining. I know it’s early, but what about a Tom Brady versus Jimmy Garoppolo matchup in the Super Bowl. Don’t laugh.

Plenty of football remains and that means plenty of chances to harvest some green on the NFL betting lines. A good way to do that is to follow what wise guys are up to. It was another down week in terms of profitability in the games we followed, but we’re still in the red thanks to the wise guys. Sharp action on the Raiders proved a winner when the Silver and Black prevailed over the Bears in London. However, the other matchups went the other way. New Orleans continues to play inspired football without Drew Brees, ruining our support of the Bucs in a 31-24 win. And what can we say about the Browns? The only good thing about their Monday night mess was that it didn’t happen at home. So much for backing Baker Mayfield.

Let’s take a look at some games on the Week 6 schedule where wise guys have affected the line. And remember, BookMaker will have spreads and totals for every NFL matchup during the 2019 season. Visit BookMaker.eu when you’re ready to wager on your favorite NFL team.

NFL Week 6 Wise Guy Picks

Dallas Cowboys ( -7, 42.5 ) at New York Jets

Hailed as a Super Bowl contender following a 3-0 SU and ATS start, the Cowboys have crashed against upgraded competition. You play the games on the schedule and the Boys were gifted contests against the Giants, Washington and Miami in the first three. It doesn’t get any easier than that unless you played the Dolphins three straight. Dallas can get back to its winning ways by keeping the Jets winless. You don’t have to be a wise guy to see where this one is going.

The Boys opened -9.5 and got a majority of the early looks. But the threat of the Jets actually having a quarterback got them some support on the line. It looks as though Sam Darnold has recovered from his bout with mono. That’s exciting since the Jets offense scored one touchdown in the first four games and managed none with Darnold sidelined. Wise guys bought the Jets and Dallas is currently -7.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Los Angeles Chargers ( -7, 41 )

Wise guys monitor nearly everything and injuries are important to follow since they impact teams and eventually lines. Knowing when to bet a game is crucial, too. The Chargers opened as a 5-point home favorite for this AFC tilt, and knowing that the Steelers could be without their backup turned starting quarterback had the sharp money all over the Bolts. Squares got in on the action as well.

Pittsburgh hasn’t had a losing season under Mike Tomlin. They also had Ben Roethlisberger behind center for all those years. Ben’s gone and Mason Rudolph is still in a fog after a nasty hit last week. Even if he plays, which is a big if, he’ll have a hard time remembering the plays. The Bolts are notoriously slow starters and it’s about this time of year they turn it on. And food for thought: the Bolts are 11-2-1 ATS in their last 14 games following a cover loss.

Tennessee Titans at Denver Broncos ( -2, 39 )

We don’t usually see a line jump the fence so when it does eyebrows are raised. The move wasn’t significant going from the opening line of Tennessee -2 to the current Denver -2. Four points is plenty but without crossing over a key number it’s more about aesthetics to please the betting public. What makes the swap even more interesting is that the early action was split fairly evenly.

Vic Fangio is a defensive guy and his Broncos played a spirited game to beat the Chargers last week for their first win of the year, and Fangio’s first as a head coach. The Bolts were denied a touchdown for the first time in 56 games, so maybe Vic’s message is getting through. The Titans continue to struggle offensively and the wise guy money is backing the Broncs in a tight one.
