We are officially into the second half of the 2019 NFL season and if you picked the San Francisco 49ers as the last unbeaten team on a futures bet at the start of the year, congratulations, you just cashed in big time. And if you went the other way with a wager on the Cincinnati Bengals to go without a victory, you’re halfway home. Miami exited the winless ranks last week with an upset of the Jets, an outcome wise guys sided with to bring home a winner.

Injuries are again playing with the lines for the Week 10 NFL games. The Colts lost backup-turned starter Jacoby Brissett and his status for a game against the red-hot Fins is in question. Some books delayed posting a line for the Kansas City-Tennessee game while awaiting word on the status of Patrick Mahomes. And sadly Minshew Mania is over in Jacksonville for now with the announcement that Nick Foles will be starting when the Jags return to action in Week 11.

We tracked a couple of winners in three games identified as wise guy plays last week and it’s been a profitable season so for. Sharp action on the Dolphins proved to be a winner as they not only covered the closing 3.5-point line they won the game outright proving the Jets are more dysfunctional. Just about everyone has lost confidence in the Bears, and wise guys backed the Eagles in a cover win. Arizona ruined our perfect week by covering the 10.5-point spread in its loss to the Niners. As Meatloaf sang so eloquently years ago, two out of three ain’t bad.

We have fewer games this week with six teams taking a bye, but the chances to make money are always there. So let’s get back to it by following wise guys on the Week 10 schedule. NFL Week 10 Wise Guy Picks

Carolina Panthers at Green Bay Packers ( -5, 47 )

The reality of not having Cam Newton for the rest of the season is setting in after the Panthers quarterback was put on injured reserve this week, essentially ending his season. That leaves the offense in the hands of Kyle Allen, who is 5-1 as a starter since taking over. And the Panthers have topped the 30-point mark in four of those games, so things aren’t all that bad.

The total for this matchup on the frozen tundra opened at 48 and the public pounced on the over with more than 60 percent of the early action. However, the total dropped a point since hitting the board which tells me something’s up. It could be an overreaction to the Packers stumble last week, but wise guys are backing the under for two teams that can score.

Miami Dolphins at Indianapolis Colts ( -10.5, 44 )

There is more going on with this line, but to see it stray so far from its opening of Indy -16 is crazy. There was the injury to Brissett, which will certainly impact the Colts and the line. And the Fins are on a heater after winning their first game. Since hitting the board the line has dropped to Colts -10.5. A majority of the public backing was for the visitors, which also helped the move. But oddsmakers certainly got a boost with an infusion of wise guy money on the Fins.

Brissett has done a nice job since being thrust into the starters role after the sudden retirement of Andrew Luck. The Colts are hanging around near the top of the AFC South and need this game against a lesser opponent. Indy likes to run the football and if Brissett can’t go Brian Hoyer will do a lot of handing off. The whole dynamic of Indy’s offense doesn’t really change.

Arizona Cardinals at Tampa Bay Buccaneers ( -4.5, 51.5 )

This is another game with significant movement on the line, which makes us think something’s up. The Bucs opened -6 for the matchup between Bruce Arians’ current and former teams, and it looks like the sharps and squares are both siding with the Cards as the line dropped to -4.5. Arizona hasn’t been as bad as most expected with three wins and a close loss last week to the unbeaten Niners.

This could be just an overreaction or maybe the Cards are getting better under Kyler Murray. The Bucs have struggled losing four in a row and haven’t had much luck on their side. They got a strong game from Jameis Winston last week, which is encouraging. But stringing several of those together has been a problem.
