Can Kevin Durant save the Golden State Warriors? He’ll have to get on the court in order to do that and there is a strong possibility that he makes his first appearance in this series and his first in over a month when the Dubs look to extend the NBA Finals in Game 5.

The Warriors didn’t need him to sweep past the Blazers in the West Final, but the Toronto Raptors are a different story, and with the backing of an entire country, they look to wrap up their first NBA title Monday night.

Odds Analysis

We’ve seen movement on the line ahead of tipoff with a lot of that on reports that KD is going to play. Steve Kerr is not giving updates on his leading scorer’s status, but he stated a few days ago that Durant needed only one full practice before getting the green light. Well, he had that practice and with their backs planted firmly against the wall, letting KD run sure can’t hurt. There is of course the question of just how effective Durant will be after missing the last nine games. But again, what have the Dubs got to lose?

They say winning the fourth game is the most difficult and the Raps get three cracks at it. They obviously do not fear the defending champs after abusing the Warriors on their home floor the last two games. Counting their two regular season meetings, the Raptors are an impressive 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS while outscoring the Dubs by an average of 9.0 points per game. Two of their three double digit wins came in the last two and all of them took place inside Oracle. With the weight of an entire country on their shoulders will the Raptors crumble?

Warriors

It looks like the Warriors do need Durant to have a chance at winning another title. Things went smoothly when KD first got injured. The Dubs finished off Houston and swept Portland. But they are facing an entirely different team, one that can play a variety of styles, lock down opponents on defense and is deep. The Warriors didn’t have the depth with their assortment of injuries, but nobody is going to feel sorry for them. Instead it’s up to the players to show their championship DNA.

Only one team has ever come back from a 3-1 deficit to win the Finals and the Dubs were at the losing end of that one back in 2016, forfeiting a lead to the Cavaliers and dropping Game 7 at home. They are hoping to be on the other end of history this year, but they’ll need to have all hands on deck. The return of Durant is a start. However, as much as the club tries to rest players during the regular season, reaching the NBA Finals five straight times is going to have an effect.

Raptors

If the Raptors were going to lose, Game 4 would have been the time. They took back home court by winning Game 3 and were facing a Warriors team that was getting sharpshooter Klay Thompson back after a one-game absence. The way Game 4 started it would have been easy for the Raps to pack it in. They struggled shooting the basketball in the first half and trailed by as many as 11 points. But this Raps team doesn’t quit, no matter the situation.

One reason why is Kawhi Leonard, who the Raptors dealt for during the offseason to get them to this point. They actually brought him in to win a title feeling all the pieces were in place, and it looks like a smooth move. Leonard rallied the Raps on Friday knowing his team would overcome its early woes. He continued his Finals MVP run by scoring 36 points on 11 of 22 shooting with five three-pointers. The rest of the team shot 39 percent and totaled five threes, so I guess Leonard can carry the team by himself.

Bet Warriors at Raptors at BookMaker.eu

It was a run that will probably never be matched again and this could be the last we see of the Warriors as we know them. As good as they have been, they finally met their match in Toronto. Injuries played a big role in the series and the Dubs won their first title with two of Cleveland’s top players out. The basketball Gods have a way of making things right. Toronto probably would’ve won the last two even if KD was playing, and if he suits up on Monday I don’t think it makes that much of a difference.

NBA Finals Score Prediction: Raptors 111, Warriors 106
