Murray Sabrin
Interview With Jenny
Woo
It's Primary Day in
New Jersey and
Gambling911.com's
own Jenny Woo had
the opportunity to
discuss with
Republican
Senatorial candidate
Murray Sabrin what
he will do to help
make the state (and
the nation as a
whole) a better
place to live in the
shadow of a looming
recession.
Already discussed -
New Jersey property
taxes, pain at the
pump and his
strategy to go up
against long time
Senator, Frank
Lautenberg (go here
to read the first
half of Jenny's
interview).
Jenny Woo:
You have a
refreshing
message...."Make
online gambling
legal". As you may
know we are very
passionate about
that message, but
explain why you are
so passionate about
this. And also, how
has the reception
been to this message
thus far?
Murray Sabrin:
The point is our
campaign says
legalize freedom and
that means that
people should have
the freedom to do
anything that's
peaceful, whether
it's gambling,
whether it's taking
care of their
children's
healthcare without
the government
mandating more and
more vaccines, it's
for small businesses
without these
mandates and high
taxes that people
have to face if
they're a small
business owner. So
again, America has
gone away from it's
historical and
philisophical roots
of freedom and where
the government is
deciding more and
more decisions for
families, businesses
and individuals. I
want to return
America to it's
fundamental roots
which is visible
freedom and liberty.
Jenny Woo:
I see how much
money is taken in
year after year from
online gambling.
I've met with these
operators. I've been
to their Costa Rican
offices. The
industry in Costa
Rica alone employs
more than 5000
people directly and
we are talking about
a billion dollar
industry. Would you
really want New
Jersey to grant a
license to the Jenny
Woo Online Casino
and if so would you
ensure that my boss
and his trusty
assistant don't get
75% of the revenues?
But seriously, what
types of operators,
companies would you
be looking to
participate in New
Jersey's future
online gambling
industry? How do you
keep those pesky
little mobsters out?
Murray Sabrin:
Well I think what it
comes down to is the
market place will
sort out who the
honest operators
are. That's why if
the large companies
get involved they
have the track
record of integrity
in the market place
and that's what
people are looking
for, a name brand.
That's why people go
to McDonald's, drink
Coca Cola and Pepsi
and other brands
that are known for
high quality or good
service. So that's
what we need online.
Where the customer
really can pick the
tie so to speak. But
if things are done
by operators that
have a good track
record, they start
slow cause they are
new and they build
their reputation on
honesty and
integrity. That's
how small companies
become eventually
big companies.
Jenny Woo:
Ron Paul has
endorsed you. He
spoke recently at
one of your
fundraisers. The two
of you share many of
the same views on
limited Government.
Ron Paul has often
referred to his
efforts as a
"revolution".
Really, he wants
more
Constitutionalists
to become forces in
the Republican party
and you are one such
person. Now I’ll
admit, the
Constitution was not
one of my strong
areas in High School
so you’ll have to
forgive me here but
explain to our
readers and the
voters of New Jersey
the message you are
trying to convey.
Murray Sabrin:
Well it's simple,
the government was
spending too much
money on programs
that aren't
authorized by the
Constitution. And if
the message of
congressmen, past,
present, to uphold
the Constitution the
federal government
would be a lot
smaller, taxes would
be a lot lower and
people would have
more freedom. I'd
say that's the type
of America I would
like see once again
in the twenty first
century and people
who believe in the
Constitution are the
ones who can
implement this
vision rather than
having the
government manage
this low fare
warfare state which
is expensive and
unsustainable and
that's where we need
to go back to the
Constitution like
Ron Paul wants, like
I want and other
people want and that
will give us more
peace, prosperity
and liberty.
Jenny Woo:
Okay, You picked
a horse to win the
Kentucky Derby and
came under some
flack for using
political funds to
bet this huge
underdog – which I’m
sad to report DID
NOT WIN. Why Cowboy
Cal?
Murray Sabrin:
I must admit that I
had nothing to do
with it. If the
horse won, of course
I would give credit
to where it was due.
But we thought in a
long shot that would
be a good way to
bring a lot of bites
to the campaign if
the horse came in.
Jenny Woo:
You know we want
Ron Paul to be the
next President of
the United States,
but that’s an uphill
battle. It looks
like Republican John
McCain vs. Democrat Barack Obama. Of
these two, who do
you think would be
best qualified to
run the United
States and why? What
don’t you like about
either candidate?
Murray Sabrin:
Like I've said all
along, as a member
of congress of the
United States said,
"I will always put
country above
parties". So it
doesn't matter who
is
President as far as
I'm concerned. But
as long as the
President adheres to
the Constitution and
something that's
good for the
American people,
short term and long
term, I will support
the policies of that
President. So when
it comes to the next
President, I'm going
to hold him or her to very high
standards. You're
going to have to
demonstrate to me
that you are not
engaging in some
partisan bickering
of battle and that
you will follow the
Constitution and
make sure that the
policies that you
support are one's
that promote the
general welfare
rather then any
individual group,
corporation or separate society.
And that's why it's
so important that we
have a Congress that
understands that,
that could be a
check and balance on
the President
whoever that
President may be.
Jenny Woo:
You know I have
to ask this since
his state is right
next door, but what
was your reaction to
the Eliot Spitzer
scandal and more
importantly, why do
you think it is that
all these political
scandals are
emerging in recent
years (Mark Foley,
Larry Craig). Should
we blame Bill
Clinton?
Murray Sabrin:
The sad reality in
politics in America
is that politicians
who claim to face
their values, law
and order and rule
of law engage in
behavior that
contradicts their
public message. And
so that's why we can
hold politicians to a
very simple
standard. Tell us
what you believe in
and demonstrate that
you lead the life
that you believe in.
And so this is why
it's sad for the
families involved
and the public
because they are
influenced by
individuals who tell
us one thing but
behave another way.
So all I would say
is if you stay out
of trouble good
things will happen.
Jenny Woo:
Sue Simmons and
the F-Bomb. She’s an
icon there in the
Tri-State area. Was WNBC right in
keeping her? And
keep in mind she’ll
probably be
interviewing you
before Election Day.
Seriously, what was
the fuss about? Not
that I would ever
say this word.
Murray Sabrin:
This is the thing.
People make mistakes
in life. We don't
let people go
because they make
one mistake. Let's
move on to other
things. She's apologized and that
is that.
(as a side note:
Simmons did just get
a nice promotion)
Jenny Woo:
Tell us more
about the book you
are writing on
politics, the
economy and culture
titled Velvet
Fascism: How the
Political Elites
Transformed America.
Murray Sabrin:
I started writing a
book about the
political economy,
but I had to put it
on the back burner
because of all my
activities at the
college and other
activities. I hope
to get to it some
day about how
current America
runs. My goal is to
be a citizen
activist and
hopefully a United
States Senator who
will help turn
America around
because these are
issues that need to
be expressed
immediately
otherwise our
economy is going to
keep on flooding our
currency is going to
keep up falling and
inflation is going
to eat into budget
for the American
people.
Jenny Woo:
I noticed that
you have a profile
page on Myspace. Has
this helped in
reaching out to the
younger voters? And
what is your stategy
on getting the
message out to those
young adults to get
out there to vote
and more importantly
for you?
Murray Sabrin:
Well I'm hoping
people go to Myspace.
I've been so busy
campaigning that I
forgot to go to my
Myspace page. I'm
just hoping that
people go there see
the message take
that message and
blast it all over
the internet,
because the internet
has become such a
powerful marketing
tool. It can get
people on board, it
can raise a lot of
money with very
little effort. The
new paradigm in
politics is that we
need to get the
message out, get
young people
interested in the
process and achieve
victory because
victory will come
success in turning
this country around.
Jenny Woo:
I'm about to get
you a few hundred
thousand more votes
if you answer this
last question
correctly. New York
Giants or New Jersey
Giants?
Murray Sabrin:
Hahaha. I know that
their stadium is
here. But they were
founded as the New
York Giants. They
have great history
in New York City. I
consider it a part
of the old New
York/New Jersey
metropolitan area so
I don't take a
postal view of these
things because there
are businesses that
have one name and
located in another
town. So I think we
have to be more
giving if you will
for people that use
names that don't
reflect their true
geography.
Jenny Woo:
Good answer.
In closing, was there
anything else you'd
like to add?
Murray Sabrin:
You bet.
Please visit my
website.
www.MurraySabrin.com and
don't forget to vote
June 3rd (today).
