Miss Malaysia Deborah Priya Henry Miss World 2007 Betting Odds

Malaysia beauty queen Deborah Priya Henry is vying to become Miss World 2007 this upcoming Saturday.  After Miss Dominican Republic and Miss Jamaica, Miss Malaysia has the third shortest odds.

"It's going to be a barn burner," says Payton O'Brien, Gambling911.com Senior Editor.  "We were surprised that Miss Malaysia has been dropping out of favor with bettors though considering her country's reputation for being home to some of the most prolific gamblers."

Many of the world's biggest casino high rollers come from Malaysia. 

"Don't be surprised if a ton of bets start coming in from Malaysia last minute," predicts O'Brien.

Miss Malaysia had been listed with 10/1 or +1000 odds two weeks ago and is now at 15/1 or +1500.  a US$1 bet would pay out US$15 or you can put a down payment on a new home in Euros (that's an exaggeration).

But there is one other variable that comes into play which makes Miss Malaysia a true "world favorite" and one who the bookmakers should be paying special mind to.

"She is actually part Irish," discloses O'Brien.  "There is a little Irish in everyone these days it seems."

With that in mind, it's even more odd that Ireland's biggest bookmaker, PaddyPower had given Miss Malaysia longer odds than Miss USA and Miss China.  There she would pay out $1600 for every $100 bet.

Deborah is a fashion model with a B.A. degree in Economy and Political Science from the University of Brisbane. She was born in Dublin and grew up in Kuala Lumpur,her mother is Irish and father Indian with roots in Australia.

She is a keen sportswoman, playing volleyball and basketball, gained a gold medal in the Kuala Lumpur International schools athletic meet and received a “Sportswoman of the Year” trophy at school.

Miss Malaysia has founded a charity called “Open Doors” and at her twenty-first birthday party she asked her friends to make donations to “Open Doors” instead of bringing presents and was gratified by how much they raised. Deborah enjoys travelling, listening to music, reading, volleyball and cooking, creating dishes using Thai, Indian and Moroccan spices.

Much like Gambling911.com's own resident beauty, Jenny Woo, Deborah loves dogs and has a Labrador called Bailey and a mongrel called Twinkle. Her motto is “Do what you can do, given your capabilities and resources. Everyone can play a part in impacting the bigger picture, now and in the future.”

That motto is similar to Miss Woo's only hers is: "Do whatever you can do just as long as he's got a job, money in the bank and drives.  And if he throws you out of his car in the middle of the city, use all your capabilities and resources to hail a taxi...no matter how drunk you might be".
