Irish Bookmaker Makes Mike Huckabee Favorite to be Republican Vice Presidential Candidate

Irish bookmaker PaddyPower.com has made Mike Huckabee a 6-5 favorite to become the Republican Vice Presidential candidate, presumably running along side Senator John McCain of Arizona.

“I’m not going to be asked,’’ Huckabee said in regard to running along side McCain. “I think it’s pretty evident that there would be a lot of people on the list before me…..Everybody says, ‘No, no, wouldn’t ever touch it…. I wouldn’t think about it right now. Until John McCain has 1,190 delegates I wouldn’t think about it.’’

Tim Pawlenty is the next big favorite at 5/2 odds.  Pawlenty is the 39th and current Governor of Minnesota, and started his term on January 6, 2003. After winning re-election in 2006, he "downplayed any national ambitions," but some speculate that his vocal support of John McCain makes him a potential Vice Presidential candidate.

Joe Lieberman and Chuck Hagel came in with 11/2 odds.

Once a darling among Democrats, Lieberman's support among the GOP has boomed, according to Newsday

Lieberman, the Democrat-turned-independent who was his party's 2000 vice presidential nominee, is now viewed unfavorably by two of every three Connecticut Democrats polled during the Super Tuesday presidential primaries, according to exit poll data.

Yet he has a solid fan base among Republicans, with whom he shares support for GOP presidential front-runner John McCain. Three of every four registered Republicans polled said they like him, including many who described their view of him as "very favorable."

Condoleeza Rice and Mitt Romney were both listed with 6/1 odds of being named the Republican Vice Presidential candidate.
