Mike Huckabee Atop John McCain's Vice President List

James Pethokoukis of the Capital Commerce reports that Mike Huckabee is currently atop the John McCain short list of possible running mates.

At least that's the word from a top McCain fundraiser and longtime Republican moneyman who has spoken to McCain's inner circle. The fundraiser is less than thrilled with the idea of Huckabee as the vice presidential nominee, and many economic conservatives—turned off by the populist tone of Huckabee's campaign and his tax record as governor—are likely to share that marked lack of enthusiasm.

BetUS.com had removed its betting odds on the next Republican Vice President but Irish bookmaker, Paddy Power, still listed Mike Huckabee and there he had 10 to 1 odds, paying US$1000 for every US$100 bet if this were to come to fruition.

Of course, first John McCain must be elected as President of the United States and it is Barack Obama (the Democrat) who is widely considered the frontrunner.

Tim Pawlenty is the favorite to become the next Vice President of the US.

Mitt Romney, Florida Governor Charlie Crist and Condoleeza Rica are favorites to be named Vice President among the Republicans ahead of Mike Huckabee.
