Michigan Republican Primary Betting Michigan Republican primary betting is now in full swing with online gambling firm, BetUS.com listing Arizona Senator John McCain as a favorite. While he's not nearly as big a favorite coming into this one as he was New Hampshire, the McCain camp should be feeling pretty good right about now that they are just slightly coming out ahead of Mitt Romney, who has resided in Michigan. Mitt Romney's dad was a three time Governor in that state. Here you will find all the latest updates and odds heading into the Michigan Republican Primary to be held January 15.
If you thought John McCain's daughter, Meghan McCain, was bi....you would be sort of right we suppose....as in bipartisan. No she hasn't technically crossed over party lines. Some might argue otherwise, however. The beautiful blonde blogging daughter of the Arizona Senator is reportedly dating a Ron Paul supporter. Both McCain and Paul are running for the Republican nomination in this year's US Presidential election, though Ron Paul is considered more of a Libertarian. Not surprisingly, the date got mighty ugly.
Ron Paul Could Capitalize on Michigan Primary Gaffes There will be a low voter turnout. Those who are likely to show will be the type of outspoken supporters that have made Ron Paul a viable candidate in the race for President of the United States as opposed to those just voting on the individual perceived as "more electable". At stake: 30 GOP delegates; 0 Democratic delegates. Because Michigan broke party rules by moving up its primary, it has been stripped of half its GOP delegates and all its Democratic ones. Leaders of both state parties expect to regain the lost delegates at their respective conventions, but Barack Obama and John Edwards pulled their names off the ballots. Another potential jolt for the Paul campaign: Because the Democratic ballot will not count, Michigan's large Arab community (mostly ignored) will likely sway towards the Texas Congressman. The Midwestern state boasts the most organized Arab community in the United States and is a key proving ground for the Republican candidates. 500,000 Arab Americans (or 5 percent of the total population) estimated by the Arab American Institute live in Michigan "The Bush administration has alienated Arab Americans," said Osama Siblani, president of the Dearborn-based Arab American Political Action Committee, pointing to policies on the Middle East and the War on Terror. Siblani said that Libertarian candidate and Texas Representative Ron Paul, who has issued scorching denouncements of Bush and his Mideast policy, will probably be the GOP candidate to attract the largest number of Arab votes. Polls showed Paul in high single digits. He was listed with +2500 odds to win Michigan at Sportsbook.com.
Michigan Primaries: Latest Betting Odds Still Have John McCain the Favorite Heading into Michigan Primaries day, Arizona Senator John McCain continued to lead the pack with -140 odds compared to former Massachusetts Governor, Mitt Romney's even odds. If this were a baseball game, McCain would be a pretty big favorite. In the political game, anything can happen on Tuesday. These odds suggest that McCain will just nudge out Romney and that the vote count will likely go to well beyond 50% before a projected winner is announced among the Republicans.
The polls may suggest that Barack Obama is dramatically catching up to Hillary Clinton in the Michigan Presidential primaries, but the online oddsmakers are yet to budge with either party. On the Democratic side of things, Clinton continues to be listed as the huge -1600 favorite while Obama was at +750 odds (for a $750 payout with every $100 bet). John Edwards was a huge +4000 longshot.
Hillary Clinton a Huge Favorite to Win Michigan Primary Verses Obama Left for dead just last week, Democratic US Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has rebounded tremendously. The polls may not always be accurate, but the prediction markets are. They have Hillary Clinton at -1600 odds to win Michigan (you would have to bet $1600 to get a $1 plus your initial $1600 back if she wins). Barack Obama, meanwhile, is listed with +750 odds (a value bet for sure paying out $750 for every $100 wagered).
With a new reinvigorated, battle ready and obviously...well rehearsed....Ron Paul emerging out of the latest Fox News Republican debate, his supporters are left wondering "What needs to be done now to keep up the momentum?" Simple answer: Focus on the poker communities in both Michigan and South Carolina. And they won't be hard to find.
While the media and Fox News "focus group" didn't think too highly of Republican US Presidential candidate Ron Paul, the response by the audience during Fox's South Carolina debate suggested otherwise. He received more applause than any other candidate bar none....not to mention zero boos. And give Fox News some credit. The network asked its audience to text in who they felt won the debate and they honestly reported Ron Paul's huge lead in the voting. We're sure if they really wanted to, they could have made Fred Thompson the winner. And even the focus group was asked if Paul should have been allowed to attend. Overwhelmingly, the group who said he was the worst said he belonged there. Go figure! Fox News received quite a bit of flack for excluding Paul in their last Republican debate despite winning 10% in Iowa and performing better than Rudy Giuliani in that state.
