Michigan Primaries: Latest Betting Odds Still Have John McCain the Favorite

Heading into Michigan Primaries day, Arizona Senator John McCain continued to lead the pack with -140 odds compared to former Massachusetts Governor, Mitt Romney's even odds.  If this were a baseball game, McCain would be a pretty big favorite.  In the political game, anything can happen on Tuesday.  These odds suggest that McCain will just nudge out Romney and that the vote count will likely go to well beyond 50% before a projected winner is announced among the Republicans.

In appearances across the state, former Massachusett's Governor Mitt Romney has been hammering hard on economic issues, arguing that he has the fresh ideas that can revive the auto industry and the state's flagging economy, according to a report in the Voice of America.

"I want to bring Michigan back," said Mitt Romney. "I am not willing to sit back and say 'too bad for Michigan, too bad for the car industry, too bad for the people who lost their jobs, they are gone forever.' I will not rest when I am president of the United States until Michigan is brought back."

Privately, some aides are saying they’re not sure McCain can prevail in Michigan, but they feel more confident about winning the South Carolina primary on Saturday. Many polls show McCain running just behind Mike Huckabee there.

Mike Huckabee was still listed with +400 odds.  Rudy Giuliani had +2000 odds.  Ron Paul had +2500 odds.  Fred Thompson was a huge underdog with +5000 odds.
