Michael Bloomberg Favored to Become Next US PresidentMichael Bloomberg is now favored to become the next US President according to the folks at
Sportsbook.com. In a shock move the online gambling firm slashed Michael Bloomberg's odds from 150 to 1 to 50 to 1, making him the new favorite to win, tied with Hillary Clinton. (Please note that earlier odds of 2 to 1 were in error on the Sportsbook.com website)
"This is due to significant betting at the long odds out of New York City," Gambling911.com's Carrie Stroup can confirm.
But 50 to 1 odds from 150 to 1 odds?
Previously, 2008 US Republican candidate
Ron Paul had Odds Slashed Dramatically: 15 to 1 from 200 to 1 last month following extensive press coverage on his "Internet" following by Carrie Stroup.
Michael Bloomberg, New York City's current Mayor, has been mighty coy about not running for US President in 2008. But his change in party affiliation suggests he will become a candidate on the Independent card and this could seriously offset the odds.
Fred Siegel of the Huffington Post points out that in one recent 72-hour stretch, Bloomberg has been on the cover of Time, the subject of the feature story in BusinessWeek and a special guest on NBC's Nightly News where hard-boiled anchor tossed up softball questions.
"Whatever else he is, Bloomberg is a marketing genius," Siegel writes. "He's managed to run a presidential campaign -- he hopes the Dems will nominate Edwards and the GOP Thompson, so he can have the center all to himself in running as a self-financed independent -- without arousing the slightest bit of skepticism from the argus-eyed national press. That's well-endowed talent."
