Mansion Exchange No More

Many a player awoke to the discovery Monday morning that Mansion's sports exchange was no longer in operation.   The online gambling firm, famous for sponsoring the Tottenham Hotspurs football club has opted instead for a regular sports betting platform that utilizes a mostly decimal pricing structure.

This is one of many changes that have come over recent months for the uber cash fueled Mansion Sportsbook and Poker.  Earlier this month, Mansion announced it had moved the company's poker room to the fifth largest Internet poker network, OnGame.

"We chose Ongame Network as one of the most tried and trusted platforms online and for their superior Poker software,” he said. “But an equally important deal-maker has been their ability to enhance our business rather than consume it."

The group’s casino business migrated to the Playtech platform in July 2007. At the time, the company said that there were no plans to move its poker business.

Initially Mansion had favored its sportsbook over the exchange, eliminating the former.

Former Royl Sports CEO turned journalist, Robert Castigliano, believes there could be more changes on the horizon for the Mansion Group.

The Indonesian cigarette magnate behind Mansion, Putera Sampoerna, is reportedly selling off one of his other enterprises, London based casino Les Ambassadeur.  "Could Mansion be next?" Castigliano asks on his web zine TheOnlineWire.com.

"Mansion.com was born with the disclosed ambition to challenge PinnacleSports.com reduced juice business model on the sportsbook side and Betfair.com exchange in the p2p arena.

"Three years after its grand opening Mansion.com offers full juice wagering on the sports book side and has seemingly abandoned the p2p exchange business model after heavily seeding it for months to attract punters.

"Despite substantial marketing investments like the £8m+/year shirt sponsorship deal with Tottenham Hotspur Football Club the Mansion.com brand remains little known to U.K. and European punters in general.

"Mansion.com reshaped its marketing strategies several times in the last 24 months and is now heavily promoting its casino and poker products while focusing its sportsbook's marketing efforts on its Philippines based sister operation Mansion88.com."
