The battle rages on for two teams who failed to get on the right track during week 1: the Seahawks will go on the road to pay a visit to the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field for Monday Night Football. The Bears got off to a good start as they imposed a measurable dominance over the Packers, however, with the end of the first half, so did Chicago’s luck. Legendary QB Aaron Rodgers and his team managed to pull off a comeback and ruin Matt Nagy’s high expectations for their regular season opener. Meanwhile, the Seahawks went on the road and suffered a difficult defeat before the Denver Broncos.

It seems that the tendency among pundits lately is to put down Seattle and to dismiss it as a worthy challenger in the league, and they wouldn’t be entirely wrong. The Seahawks are not quite what they used to be and Russell Wilson appears to be waging a one-man war on the world. The recent loss of wide receiver Doug Baldwin won’t make things easier on Seattle either; he suffered a severe tear injury that will keep him away from the playing field for an indefinite amount of time. But, considering all the upsets that have been springing up in the NFL lately, can the Seahawks stand a chance before a reinvigorated Bears?

Tough Chances

The best hope for the Hawks is that Russell Wilson’s early game push is backed by all other positions, in order to allow him to get some points through before his energy wears off with the passing of the first two quarters. If Seattle’s defense can withstand the initial barrage, they may still have a chance against Chicago. Linebacker Khalil Mack has proven to be a potent threat as well, as he demonstrated his talent versus the Packers on Week 1, pushing them over the edge during the first half of their game.

Seattle has relied too much on Wilson to make things happen, and this will have to change. The addition of new offensive keys like guards Ethan Pocic and DJ Fluker has proven somewhat ineffective.  Wilson will require all the help he can get to get a clearer view and better access to the opposing goal line. On the other hand, the Bears will be able to draw some benefits from their position of home team this time around. They will do everything they can to secure a victory on Week 2, and continue their expected rise to the Playoffs. Unfortunately, for Seattle, the expectations are as low as they get.

Unexpected Come-back

Long gone are the days when one could count on Seattle to take an easy big-gap victory over Chicago. It’s been nearly 3 years since the Bears fell 26-0 on their last head to head encounter.  Nevertheless, the time may have come for a Seattle revival, and for the Bears to step down their ambitious season plan. A good plan to aid the Seahawks with their temporary woes would be to put forward running back sensations Rashad Penny and Chris Carson; while the latter has done the most in terms effectiveness and total yardage, both players may be required to give Wilson the help he sorely needs.

Odds don’t seem to favor Seattle much; expert odds-makers YOUWAGER currently have the Bears favorite at -4½  with a total of 42½. If you like underdogs as much as I do, then, I would suggest you bank on the Seahawks plus side and keep your fingers crossed for a delightful upset/surprise.

J.J. McCarthy Drafted Number 3 Odds to Patriots

To be clear, the Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy is pretty certain to land in Minnesota.  But what if the New England Patriots shock us and pick McCarthy at Number 3 before the Vikings get their opportunity at No. 5?

Bet on Jared Verse Draft Position

Jared Verse had an over/under selection number of 15.5 with CBS Sports believing the Florida State EDGE will be chosen by the Seattle Seahawks at No. 16.
