Spotlight: Nick Agallar Goes from UFC to Bodog Fight
Following a 16-month
tour of duty in Iraq, Wisconsin's own, Nick Agallar,
took part in
Bodog Fight Season 1 Costa Rica and Season 2
Russia. He is 1-1 under the Bodog Fight banner thus
far and fought last weekend for Bodog Fight Season
3. Sports911.com was present but is prohibited
from posting results from that event at press time.
Overall, Agallar is
a very impressive 17-4-0.
His UFC 45 -
Revolution bout verses Yves Edwards was among the
most memorable. Though he ultimately lost that
battle, fight observers point out that Agaller
dominated throughout much of that fight.
“I remember
watching some of the early UFCs and thinking 'man, I
could kill these guys'." Agaller said.
Nick Agallar is one of the top lightweight fighters
in the world. He has the most favorable (and
reliable) wins to losses ratio of any competitor in
Bodog Fight. And so he should – as a capable
wrestler and Jiu-Jitsu combatant.
Nick’s interest in fighting began where most does –
on the playground.
Eventually, he channeled his skills into wrestling
and placed as a runner-up in numerous tournaments.
All the while, Nick watched as many UFC matches as
he could find, eventually concluding that mixed
martial arts was in his future. He joined Dave
Strasser’s Freestyle Academy and, two weeks later,
won his first fight. After that, he was hooked.

Bodog Fight
Season 3 in Costa Rica featured plenty of surprises
Bodog Fight
recently announced a partnership agreement with K-1
out of Japan.
Charles Jay of
BoxingScene.com writes of BodogFight:
"Bodog Fight is
backed by an online gaming empire built by master
marketers, and can succeed either as an entree to
casino and sportsbook sites bearing its name, or as
a branding vehicle."
Bodog Fight's Season 3 filming was recently profiled
by Sports911.com.
That article
highlights how Sports911.com/Gambling911.com was
there almost from Day 1 when Bodog.com first emerged
in 2001 and how we were laughed off the face of the
Internet promoting Bodog.com as the "next big thing
in online gambling".
We know a good
thing when we see it and Bodog Fight is a good
thing. Trust us on this one folks. We're
making the same predictions we did back in 2002 (we
started promoting Bodog a few months after they
launched the brand).
Even Vancouver Sun
reporter, David Baines - someone who has been highly
critical of Bodog and its founder Calvin Ayre -
admits to having watched the Bodog Fight premiere
Pay Per View event in Vancouver, British Columbia,
and enjoyed it very much.
Incidentally, we
here at Sports911.com call it as we see it.
Bodog Music does little for us. Bodog Fight 3,
its production (Ayre admits a huge improvement over
Season 1) and the overall morale of its fighters
(many wearing their Bodog Fight gear en route back
to Miami and talking to other passengers about their
experiences in Costa Rica) impressed us greatly.
It also impressed
one of the Custom Agents who was all ears when a
fighter told him about his reason for being in Costa
Rica. Bodog Founder, Calvin Ayre, ironically,
won't be stepping foot on US soil any time soon
following the arrests of colleagues in the online
gambling sector.
Ayre and friends at
his Costa Rica compound. Ayre recently
announced he has purchased a beach front property in
sunny Antigua where much of his gambling business
will be based
....Bodog Fight third season featured three fighters
from Portland, Oregon. Chael Sonnen, Jake
Ellenberger and Jeremiah Constant were among the
fighters in Costa Rica for filming. All three are
under a non-disclosure agreement until the episodes
air. Ellenberger and Constant are free agents, but
Sonnen recently signed a four-fight contract for
$35,000 per fight.
Last December, Bodog fans named Sonnen the
promotion's most popular fighter, an honor that
earned him a $50,000 bonus.
"When I started fighting, the goal was to make
$10,000," Sonnen said. "And I would have to fight
five or six fights to get that."
Lindland has been managing Sonnen since 2000 and
coaching him since he was 16.
"It's finally coming around for him," Lindland said.
"He is becoming a fighter that has demand."
....Do not forget
to tune into PRIDE 33: The Second Coming Saturday
evening. Based in Japan, PRIDE is not as well
known as the UFC but many consider PRIDE to have the
best talent.
Heading this
weekend’s card is the highly anticipated and
long-awaited rematch between two current champions.
Welterweight champion Dan Henderson (12-5) steps
into the ring to challenge Wanderlei Silva (22-3-1)
for the Middleweight belt. This is the first ever
fight between to current champs in the history of
Pride F-C.
Bodog.com (see website here)
is offering odds on PRIDE 33 with Wanderlei Silva at
-300 and Dan Henderson +200. Henderson would
pay out $200 on a $100 bet should he win.
That's the best value.
