The teams conclude a three-game set and play for the final time during the regular season on Wednesday with the Twins looking to even the season matchup.

New York delivered a body blow Tuesday night, rallying from six runs down to post an extra-inning victory. The rubber game of the series has J.A. Happ on the bump for the Bombers against 11-game winner Jake Odorizzi in a game that can be seen on ESPN. Betting options for every game on the Wednesday MLB schedule are available at BookMaker.eu.

Odds Analysis

Just like you’d expect in games between division leaders, the contests have been close, well-played and entertaining. By winning six of their last eight games the Yankees currently have the best record in the AL and they’ve done it with one of the better road records in baseball. New York improved to 27-18 away from home. They did snap a three-game road slide with Tuesday’s 14-12 win, thanks to five hits and seven RBIs from Didi Gregorius.

It’s starting to become nail-biting time for the Twins, who not long ago had a comfortable lead in the AL Central. It’s not like they went through a prolonged losing streak or anything to see the double-digit advantage over Cleveland shrink to three games. The Twins just haven’t played at the same pace as they did earlier in the year. It’s been nearly six weeks since the Twins won more than two games in a row and they are just 17-25 in that span.

Probable Pitchers

Consistently taking the mound, J.A. Happ ( 8-5, 4.86 ERA ) makes his 20th start of the year. He snapped a three-start winless skid on Friday by fanning eight over 5.0 innings of two-run ball in a win over Colorado. Happ’s last three starts have been encouraging with a 2.97 ERA across 15.2 innings. He’s also surrendered just one home run in that span, which is a major improvement from the 21 he gave up in the previous 84.1 innings.

The lefty isn’t going to give the Yankees a lot of innings since he hasn’t gone past the sixth in any of his last six starts and averages just 5.0 per outing. Facing the Twins on May 4, Happ allowed a pair of homers and four runs over 5.2 innings of a 7-3 loss.

The Twins desperately need Jake Odorizzi ( 11-4, 3.18 ERA ) to snap out a funk. He was clubbed for 23 hits and 17 runs over 18.1 innings in four starts before the break when it was revealed he had a blister on his pitching hand. He looked fine in his first post-break start permitting three hits and one run over 5.1 innings to beat Cleveland. We’re still not sure if he’s completely back after yielding three runs over 5.0 innings to Oakland last time out.

Odorizzi limited New York to just two hits over 6.0 scoreless innings outdueling Happ in a 7-3 win. He has allowed six homers in his last four starts, doubling his season total. That’s not the kind of problem you want to have when facing the Yankees.

Key Stat

The Twins lead the Majors in home runs and they’ve shown the New York staff why by swatting nine homers in the first two games of the series. Miguel Sano blasted a pair and drove in five runs on Tuesday night while Nelson Cruz and Jorge Polanco went deep in each game. The Twins matched their home run total from last year by the All-Star break and their 191 bombs are 21 more than the Yankees.

Bet Yankees at Twins at BookMaker.eu

Having eight wins with an ERA nearly 5.00 tells you the Yankees have backed Happ with plenty of offense. And with two of the top home run hitting teams in baseball going at it, the over is in serious jeopardy. The teams combined for 14 homers and 40 runs the last two games and I can’t see Happ putting a blanket on the Twins. Odorizzi had success against the Yanks earlier this season, but he’s struggled lately and the bullpens are worn out. I’ll hit the over even though it’s up there and bankroll the Twins to get the home victory.

MLB Score Prediction: Twins 7, Yankees 6

Hot Betting Trends: Dolphins vs. Cowboys Week 3

Winning Margin (4-Way): Dallas Cowboys by 14+ Points (-270) – The Dolphins look like one of the worst NFL teams in recent memory through Week 2, and they have been absolutely abysmal this year in almost every phase of the game, averaging just 5.0 PPG on offense and allowing 51.0 PPG on the defensive end. The Cowboys are averaging 33.0 PPG (No. 5 in the NFL), and unless Miami miraculously turns things around before Sunday, the Dolphins could be in for a third consecutive blowout loss. The line on the Dolphins-Cowboys game has gone from Dallas -21 to -22.5 and could climb higher.  Remarkably a quarter of the moneyline action is on Miami, though only 18% of the spread action is on the Dolphins.

NFL Betting – Week 3 Wise Guy Picks

NFL Betting – Week 3 Wise Guy Picks

I said last week that it’s common for the betting public to overreact early in the season. That was directed at teams that didn’t play well and still had time to regroup. After the flurry of early-season injuries to quarterbacks, we can officially start to overreact. The big concern this week is for the Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans after they each lost their starter. It might be time to fade those teams, at least for this week until we find out how they respond with a new signal-caller.
