Kimbo Slice to Appear on EliteXC CBS Debut

It has been confirmed that YouTube phenom Kimbo Slice will be one of the fighters appearing during the first ever television network showing of a Mixed Martial Arts event when CBS broadcasts the EliteXC event May 31 live from Newark, New Jersey.

CBS aired a commercial featuring Kimbo Slice during the Kansas vs. Davidson NCAA Men's Basketball game.

Elite Xtreme Combat, also known as EliteXC, is a U.S.-based mixed martial arts (MMA) organization. It was founded as a partnership between Showtime Networks Inc. and ProElite, Inc. and officially announced on December 14, 2006.  It is headquartered in Los Angeles, California, and is fast becoming a powerhouse in the world of Mixed Martial Arts.  YouTube phenom, Kimbo Slice, is now part of the EliteXC stable.

The organization moves to a whole new level May 31 when EliteXC Saturday Night Fights will become the first MMA venue ever airing on U.S. network television.

Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson rose to prominence as an underground bare knuckle brawler. Slice made his sanctioned MMA debut against former WBO Heavyweight champion boxer Ray Mercer at Cage Fury Fighting Championships 5, in Atlantic City on June 23, 2007. The match was scheduled as a three-round exhibition utilizing all professional rules of MMA combat. Slice defeated Mercer with a guillotine choke at 1:12 into the first round.

Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson vs. TBA was the card posted on the CBS Sportsline website.  It was unclear who Slice would be fighting at press time.  The commercial "tease" stated that "The Championship Could be on the Line".
