Kentucky
Derby Just Nudges
Out Super Bowl for
Most Traffic
By just under 700
unique visitors, the
Kentucky Derby has
become the most
inquired about
betting event
covered on the
Gambling911.com
website, it was
revealed Sunday
following a record
breaking traffic day
- the biggest in
Gambling911.com's
eight year history.
The amount of
traffic was more
than double that of
a typical Saturday.
"The most amazing
thing for us about
the Kentucky Derby
is how nearly
everyone coming onto
the site is looking
to place bets,"
commented Payton
O'Brien, Senior
Editor of the G911
website.
"It goes without
saying our sponsors
probably got their
money's worth in
just a few hours."
Gambling911.com is
traditionally the
most visible of the
news sites covering
the Kentucky Derby
betting odds angle,
but it was not
without its
competition.
Unlike in past
years, websites like
Point-Spreads.com,
Online Gambling
Paper, Sports-Odds.com
and
OnlineSportsHandicapper.com
enjoyed grand
visibility
throughout the day.
"Considering the
intensive
competition, these
numbers are epic!"
exclaimed O'Brien.
"It would not
surprise us if the
Derby performed just
as well in terms of
betting action as
the Super Bowl at
those companies like
BetUS.com
and
Sportsbook.com
that really market
the Kentucky Derby
heavily."
Therein lies the
problem. Of
all the online
gambling websites
out there, maybe
only half really
offer a significant
Kentucky Derby
betting menu.
Others simply do not
market the Derby as
prolifically as say
the Super Bowl or
March Madness.
Next up: The
Preakness, which
does not encompass
the same amount of
interest as the
Kentucky Derby but
is still an
important betting
event nonetheless.
"May will be
gangbusters for the
smart online
gambling
establishments while
the idiots who think
April thru August is
a time to take off
and head to the
beach because all
they can comprehend
is baseball will
lose out as usual."
