Jordin Sparks Could Win American Idol...and Pay Out Handsomely
American Idol is no longer Melinda Doolittle's show alone. Melinda is good and she's been the favorite pretty much since day three (Lakisha Jones was the original favorite to win). But it's 17 year old Jordin Sparks who has consistently provided us with the best performances two weeks straight.
This is Carrie Stroup with your American Idol update for April 24, 2007.
Judge Randy Jackson called Jordin Sparks performance this week one of the best vocals ever and Simon Cowell seemed to agree. He called it "Brilliant".
Sparks might also appeal to a more Idol-friendly audience as opposed to the decade older Doolittle.
Make no mistake about it, American Idol now has a competition going and odds could favor Sparks winning come this Thursday, though we suspect it will take at least another week to overpower Melinda Doolittle - who in no way can be belittled. We have two true talents up there and Sparks admittedly seems to have evolved over the course of these past few weeks.
Now for the best part of all. Jordin Sparks opened this American Idol betting season with 12 to 1 odds. WOW!!! That's a $1200 payout on a $100 bet for anyone who got down on her early should Sparks become the next American Idol.
