John Edwards is a Wildcard for Gamblers

While there is talk that John Edwards needs wins in upcoming primaries to move forward due to his reported "lack of funding", those of us at Gambling911.com couldn't help but wonder why the mainstream media was painting such a dire forecast for the former US Senator from North Carolina who is running for President of the United States.   After all, he did come in an impressive 2nd place in Iowa Thursday, ahead of frontrunner, Hillary Clinton, and he was within striking distance of Barack Obama.

Edwards can still do well in New Hampshire, though polls don't show him leading there.  He's a viable candidate, especially since Obama and Clinton will target one another do air potentially dirty laundry while Edwards for the most part stays clean.

For online political bettors, John Edwards represents excellent value in his wildcard position.

Since updated odds were posted at Sportsbook.com, betting odds on Edwards to become the next US President have gone from 20-1 to 15-1 over a 24 hour period.

The payout: $1500 for every $100 bet.

Edwards has declared himself as a candidate free of special interests, declaring that his political campaigns have not taken money from lobbyists or political action committees.

Following his second place finish on Thursday night, the Democratic hopeful made a riveting speech that was later overshadowed by that of Barack Obama's.

There is speculation that Edwards may be positioning himself to become Barack Obama's running mate.
