Ahead of Week 9 vs. Indiana Colts

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said running back James Conner has an AC joint injury and is being evaluated. Tomlin expects to use
Conner in limited action on Sunday. He was injured as the two-minute warning approached after rushing for 145 yards on 23 carries and scoring a touchdown.

Conner's health on a short week leading into Sunday's game against the Colts will be even more important because backup running back Benny Snell Jr., who had five carries for 13 yards, is being evaluated for a knee injury.

Conner rushed 23 times for 145 yards and one touchdown in the Steelers' 27-14.  With that one touchdown, the payout was $10 for every $25 bet or a profit of $10 for every $25 bet (that $25 was refunded as a result of this prop winning).

Conner is averaging 15.7 FP per game this season. He has 380 rushing yards (3.9 YPC), 236 receiving yards, 29 receptions, and 6 touchdowns. The Colts are tied for fifth-worst in the NFL in yards allowed per carry.

Ahead of Week 8 vs. Miami Dolphins

Conner was a favorite of -250 to score at least one touchdown.  This means you would bet $25 to win $10, keeping in mind that that $25 is refunded just as long as he scores the touchdown.  There is some value here.

Conner has scored at least one touchdown in four of his last five games, two last week.

Conner rushed 16 times for 41 yards and a touchdown in the Steelers' Week 6 win over the Chargers, adding seven receptions for 78 additional yards and another score.

He has had 41 or more rushing yards in his last four games, but in order to get any value with the rushing yard prop he'll need to get 81 or more starting at +120 odds.

Now of course this is the Dolphins, so if you think he'll have 102 or more, the payout is $25 and up on a $10 bet.

Fantasy Front

"Conner hasn't been the high-end fantasy running back that many drafted him as, but a Week 8 matchup with the Miami Dolphins puts him in a great spot. Despite not rushing for more than 55 yards in a single game this season, Conner has still found pay dirt five times this year, including two times through the air. However, the juicy matchup against Miami puts the Pitt product in a position to be more than just touchdown dependent. Look for Pittsburgh to get ahead early and use the ground game to solidify victory, making Conner a sure RB2 with RB1 upside." --Steve Janik - RotoBaller
