Is PrizePicks Legal in Texas?

PrizePicks is legal in the Lone Star State Texas despite the state not offering any in-state regulated sports betting sites (those looking to engage in real money anonymous sports betting can still rely on tried and true sites like BetUS). Find player props for all games and place individual wagers (no need to bet on multiple player combos).  Sites like BetUS will also be offering hundreds of Super Bowl prop bets including for the National Anthem, coin toss, Gatorade bath, first to score and much, much more.

The PrizePicks site focuses on the creation of a lineup of prop selections similar to that of a parlay prop selection in real money sports betting.

It's a relatively easy concept.

First you will pick your players, then select the over or under stat you choose, choose Flex Play or Power Play, then simply enter the amount of your wager.

The difference between it and Daily Fantasy Sports is that you are not playing against your peers but rather PrizePicks itself.  They set the lines.

The Power Play requires you to hit all of your picks to win but at less enticing odds than those found at Wager6.  For example, the typical parlay at BetUS pays out $260 compared to that same parlay paying $200 at PrizePicks.

PrizePicks more resembles a real money sportsbook than the early DFS websites that were offered up by the likes of DraftKings and FanDuel before they became full fledged sportsbooks.

Interestingly enough, FanDuel is now accusing these sites of operating what amounts to an "illegal sportsbook".

How Texas Teams Fared in the 2023 NCAA Tournament

(March 23, 2023) - Texas was again well represented in this year's NCAA Tournament with Houston the odds-on co-favorite to win it all along with Alabama.  Both those teams failed to advance past the Elite Eight.

Houston had advanced to play in the Sweet 16 following a win over Auburn but ultimately fell to Miami.

The Longhorns had the 6th shortest odds, paying $1000 on a $100 bet should they win it all.  They were set to face off against Creighton in the Sweet 16.

Texas Christian got through the first round with a 72-70 win over Arizona State but lost to Gonzaga in the second round.

Texas A&M-CC was the first time to bow out of this year's tournament and Texas A&M was quick to follow.

In addition to the odds on each game, one can also find player props for each starter.

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
