Indianapolis is in the midst of an epic collapse that is likely to keep them out of the playoffs. The Colts have lost three in a row and dropped five of their last six games, dropping them to 6-7 on the season. They are now two games back of the Texans and Titans for both the AFC South lead and the last Wild Card spot in the AFC, making every game a must-win from here on out.

Of course, while the Saints have already clinched the NFC South, they will be looking to bounce back from last week’s wild 48-46 loss to the 49ers. In addition to wanting to develop some momentum ahead of the playoffs, the Saints are also hoping to earn a first-round bye. Right now, New Orleans is tied with the Packers for the no. 2 seed, although they lose the tie-breaker with Green Bay, putting pressure on the Saints to win out in order to secure a playoff bye.

Don’t Worry About It

On paper, the Saints lost last week, but on the field, there was nothing wrong with their performance, at least offensively. Drew Brees sliced and diced what could be the best defense in the NFL this year. He tossed five touchdown passes while the Saints didn’t even concede a sack against the fierce San Francisco pass rush.

There should be no concerns about going up against the Indianapolis defense this week, especially back at home in the Superdome. At times, the Colts have played solid defense. But they’ve given up over 30 points in back-to-back weeks. Even creating four takeaways, including a pick-six, wasn’t enough for the Colts to hang onto a 35-21 lead last week against the Bucs. That’s not a good sign against an equally potent New Orleans passing attack.

Let’s Worry About It

On the defensive side of the ball, the Saints may have one or two concerns after giving up 48 points last week. New Orleans had some tackling issues on the back end, which is something that cost them in the playoffs against the Vikings a couple of years ago. They also got beat up a little at the line of scrimmage and struggled to contain the San Francisco rushing attack.

Despite some lackluster performances over the last month, the Colts proved last week against the Bucs that they can take advantage of a lackluster defense. Indy is still a little short-handed with T.Y. Hilton missing time due to injury. But Marlon Mack returned from injury last week and Zach Pascal is starting to emerge starting to build a good rapport with Jacoby Brissett.

Too Rich

The Colts may be spiraling, but only one of their seven losses this season have come by more than a touchdown. They have just enough on both sides of the ball to stay competitive. It’s also hard to trust the New Orleans defense after they got blasted last week. Bet on the Colts to beat the 9-point spread in a loss.
