Indiana Works to Get Ron Paul on Ballot

Hello fellow Paulites here in Indiana,  the present objective we have is to obtain ballot access for Ron Paul and the purpose of this petition is to have Ron Paul's name placed on the Indiana ballot, as Ron Paul.

Please pass this info along to all those in Indiana who you feel will want Ron Paul on that May 6th Indiana Ballot.   Forgive me if I am redundant.   Some of you know all of this.   The point of this mailing is to get info to those who don't know or who are unsure!!!

1) The Ron Paul petition drive coordinator for Indiana is John Downey ( jdowney@gmail.com ).  This is the man to contact with any questions, but read the following first.

2) 500 certified signatures for each congressional district are mandatory.   Wisdom suggests we shoot for at least a 1000 certified signatures.   However, the more certified signatures, the better the press coverage and the more people you will meet with person to person contact.  Don't hesitate to ask for help from those who sign.  Excitement builds excitement.

3)  A map depicting the 9 Indiana Congressional Districts can be found here.    http://www.stats.indiana.edu/maptools/maps/boundary/congressional%20districts.gif

 4) The Indiana Petition for Presidential Primary Ballot Placement is available online and can be downloaded at this link.    The petitions can be printed on both sides,  but do not need to be.   The most important side is the petition side.   Run off a copy and read it!!

5) A separate petition form should be used for each county.   The county name should be printed at the top of the page in the upper right.    No other writings should be made on the petition form.

 6)  Each petition form has room for 10 signatures.   Even if it has only 4 or 6 signatures, it is still a valid petition, but don't put more than 10 signatures on a sheet.    Make sure all the information requested on the petition form is entered on the form.
You need to turn square corners here.  If you are collecting signatures, you have to be sure that the signer follows instructions.  A husband cannot sign for the wife or vice-versa.  Ask him or her to take a petition and then get him or her to get the signature of their spouse and get the petition back to you.   A petition form with only one signature is still a good petition.

7) Any registered voter of any party (Democrat, Republican, Libertarian or Independent) can sign the petition.  This is not a vote for Ron Paul.   It is just a request to have his name on the Republican Primary Ballot for the May 6th primary election.

8)  Dates:  The gathering of signatures can be done now.  In some areas petitioners are already hard at work.    The first day that the petitions can be submitted for certification at each county clerk's office is January 1, 2008.   All petitions must be submitted to each county clerk no later than February 12, 2008.  That includes those petition forms that are not totally filled.

9) An address for mailing of these petitions to a central location for final collection, either in each district or the state will be furnished to us.   Questions on this can be directed to John  Downey (jdowney@gmail.com ).  If you are currently holding completed petitions you can contact John for a shipping address and a prepaid FedEx number.
If you have just a few, get them to me and I will get them to John.

10) Again - Check and double check what you are doing.   If you have questions or even doubts - ASK.  Try to eliminate mess ups before they occur.

11) Although there is no formal count to date, I have been informed that the stronger areas in the state are the 4th, 6th, 7th and 8th Congressional Districts and that the weaker areas are the 1st, 2nd, 3rd 5th, and 9th Congressional District.  Would you please check the map and if you know someone in those districts to help circulate petitions, please contact John Downey (jdowney@gmail.com )??

12)  Here is a link to the 2008 presidential calendar, listing primary dates for all states.
Out of state friends of Ron Paul - check this link  www.ronpaul2008.com/states  or contact John Downey on how you can contact the petition coordinator for other states.

     Good signature gathering!!!
