Hillary Clinton in Vegas But Now Given Longer Odds

AddThis Social Bookmark Button The odds are certainly in her favor, now she can get a little bit closer to the action herself even if oddsmakers issued a slightly less optimistic outlook for the New York State Senator and former First Lady, Hillary Clinton.

2008 US Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has reportedly opened up a campaign headquarters in Sin City, Las Vegas.

Review-Journal reports: "Nevada Democrats want Hillary Clinton to be their presidential nominee, while the Republican field is practically a four-way tie, according to a new Review-Journal poll of partisans who say they will participate in the state's nominating contests next year."

"Hillary is the clear front-runner on the Democratic side," said Brad Coker, managing partner of Mason-Dixon Polling & Research Inc., which conducted the survey. "The Republican race is just wide open. There's no clear favorite."

The news came just as Carrie Stroup of Gambling911.com advised that Sportsbook.com (see website here) had assigned longer odds of Clinton becoming US President on Thursday.

"We are now looking at 8 to 5 odds," Ms. Stroup reported to our Miami Beach bureau.  "Prior to yesterday she sat with even odds.  A $100 bet placed today would pay out $160 as opposed to $100 if bets were made yesterday.  Of course all bets are locked in based on the odds offered at that time."

Stroup, who is a political betting analyst for Gambling911.com, was unable to determine why oddsmakers are slighting Ms. Clinton.

Carrie Stroup uncertain of reasons behind Clinton's fall

"From hereon in we are likely to see much instability when it comes to 2008 presidential betting odds and much of this will be a reflection of daily news.  It does not appear as if there was anything negative that surfaced about Senator Clinton but rather one or more of the Republicans could not be seen as cutting into her vote as a result of their recent debate."

Then again, it could have something to do with Barrack Obama whose odds have now been cut from 6 to 1 to 7 to 2.

"Whereas before yesterday you could bet $100 to win $600 on Obama, now you would win only $350 on a $100 bet.  That is a pretty dramatic slashing of the odds."

Online gambling sites were widely viewed as accurate predicators of the 2004 US Presidential elections.
