Gambling911.com Publisher Christopher Costigan appeared live on ABC News NOW, the cable news network, discussing political betting along with an Economics Professor from Great Britain. Both agreed on the two final US Presidential candidates based on the current prediction market trends: Hillary Clinton and John McCain. The last part of the video is cut on the website where they explain their rationale between these two choices. But it's clear: Both opened as the favorites to win. The two received the initial betting action. And as more and more money gets wagered now that we are moving into the primaries, the betting public gains more precision accuracy. Professor Leighton Vaughan Williams said that "in 2004 the (political) polls were all over the place but the market favorites in each state won every single election." "(Political betting) reflects the voters sentiment," said Costigan. "They have control over the political betting whereas they might not have control over a sporting event." "The betting markets can sit and assimilate all this information (they have gathered) and those who know the most and are able to process the information the most will be the most," said Williams. ---- Payton O'Brien, Gambling911.com Originally published January 10, 2008 12:07 am EST |
