Forrest
Griffin vs. Chuck
Liddell at World
Series of Poker
Fresh off his upset
win Saturday night
in UFC 86, Forrest
Griffin with back in
the spotlight, this
time participating
in the 2008 World
Series of Poker.
Griffin was joined
by fellow UFC star,
Chuck "The Iceman"
Liddell.
"This is the first
time I’ve played
poker not in the
basement for nickels
or beers or
something," Griffin
told
Bluff Magazine.
He had won the UFC
Light Heavyweight
Championship title
just hours prior
and, between that
time and his stint
at the WSOP,
received stitches to
his badly bruised
and cut up face.
He received further
bruises playing the
Main Event at the
same table as Johnny
Chan.
"I slept two hours .
. . so going
head-to-head with
Johnny Chan, I
wasn’t in shape for
that."
Griffin chipped up
to well above the
starting stack in
the second level but
lost a big pot to
Chan and was
eliminated shortly
afterwards, Bluff
reported.
Chuck Liddell was a
little more lucky it
appeared, lucky in
the sense that he
drew the ESPN Main
Table along side the
likes of Phil
Hellmuth. Not
surprisingly,
Hellmuth survived
the day with 75,800
but Liddell, was
gone by the time the
day was over.
