Mayweather (38-0 with 24 knockouts) will be fighting for the first time since his victory over De La Hoya in May.

“I am the best fighter in boxing today and I’m prepared for any challenge my team puts in front of me,” Mayweather said. “And with Ricky Hatton, it’s already personal. He has talked and disrespected me so much in the past months that I can’t wait to get him in the ring and show him he is not even on my level.”

Hatton (43-0, 31 KOs), from Manchester, England, has fought once before at 147 pounds, winning the welterweight belt from Luis Collazo in 2006. He moved back to 140 pounds and captured his third world title. His most recent victory came in four rounds against Jose Luis Castillo in Las Vegas in June.

Ricky Hatton says he is determined to make Floyd Mayweather eat his words when the two meet in their welterweight fight in Las Vegas on 8 December.
Mayweather has already kicked off the war of words ahead of the super-fight, labelling Hatton "fat" and "garbage".

But Hatton told Five Live: "Soon the talk stops and we'll be in the ring.

"In Vegas I did not meet anyone with a good word to say for him. The way he disrespects fighters, it's no wonder everyone wants me to knock him out."

Mayweather, considered the best pound-for-pound fighter in boxing today, will start the match as the overwhelming favourite, despite coming out of retirement to take the match.

The Ricky Hatton Jose Luis Castillo fight proved to be very popular among Sports911.com readers back in June.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Ricky Hatton goes off at December 8.  Those looking to bet on Hatton early can get him at +265 odds or a US$265 payout for every US$100 bet.
