Earl Bennett to
Improve Chicago
Bears Odds
With
the Chicago Bears
receiving Vanderbilt
player, Earl
Bennett, in this
weekend's NFL Draft,
the team should
improve its odds of
winning during the
2008 NFL season.
The Chicago Bears
were listed with
40/1 odds of winning
the 2009 Super Bowl
heading into the
weekend's draft.
Super Book
was also offering
betting odds on
Divisional and
Conference winning
teams as well.
Odds were likely to
be shortened on the
Bears when updated
on Monday.
Bennett, the most
inquired about draft
pick over the
Internet heading
into Sunday morning,
entered the draft a
year early after
starting for the
Commodores for 2 1/2
seasons and becoming
the SEC's all-time
leader in receptions
(236 passes for
2,852 yards). He's
sturdy at 6-foot,
209 pounds, has
decent 4.5 speed and
works well in
traffic.
"Really, he's done
it without having a
strong quarterback
the last two years
[since Jay Cutler
played with him as a
rookie]," college
scouting director
Greg Gabriel said.
"He's highly
competitive, he's a
great route runner
and he has excellent
hands. He's very
good after the catch
and on top of that,
his character is
impeccable.
"We see him as
having starter
talent. Whether he
becomes a starter as
a rookie remains to
be seen."
